well fellas I bought my new toy and am beginning my new project.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c252/dmills01/MYNEWTOY.jpg

way it sits it have 5.29 gears, 37's, carbed, 8inch toy lift made up of blocks and leafs, new stereo system, some beauty marks.

PLANS: dual cases, junkyard leafs, EFI or possible Propane swap (it's depending on you sauce), chromo longfield's in front and locker (now or later), weld or locker rear, bob the bed or take it off completely, cage it all!!! bigger tires eventually!! sounds like a lot but seems like the EFI or PANE is where my time will be....more pics to come and progress to follow...any suggestions or thoughts welcome

Where'd you get that? Nice looking yota. I like a flat bed, make one w/ redwood planks and use 2x4 steel to make a cage in the back. I'll post some pics of my friends thats like that.

Lookin good, I would seriously consider All-Pro springs, I put em on my old Yota and they were bad ass! 5 inch X-treme travel. 4.3 Vortec, wouldn't be much harder than converting your's to EFI, and a whole lot better.

Yea if your willing to drop a dime on the all-pro springs or even the marlin crawler springs that'd be tight :)

Deadandcompany referred me to his friend who had a complete EFI conversion kit for $250, I got the guys name and number if you want it since I won't be needing it anytime soon.

I think he changed his mind on selling that kit. I have a 4.3 TBI motor for sale;) .

I think that converting to EFI will be a lot easier than adding a 4.3L. No worries about motor mounts, adapters, or cooling. Plus it will be cheaper, lighter and get better mileage, but obviously won't have near as much horsepower or torque. Here is a link for converting to EFI (http://www.yankeetoys.org/black900rr/EFI.html)

Junkyard springs work pretty good but All-Pro springs are only $250 a pair and work great right out of the box. I have them on my truck and am very happy with them. Chevy springs do work great in the rear though and are usually only about $60 from the junkyard.

7 LEAF WAGGYS UP FRONT. THEY BOLT RIGHT IN AND FORD RANGER IN THE REAR ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS MOVE THE HANGER FORWARD. CHEVYS ARE A LITTLE STIFF THE YOTAS DONT WEIGH ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM FLEX ASK LD.

yea duncan i do plan on doing what you told me with the springs....As for the EFI hook up...I was thinkin about putting it on because the motor that's in it originally had the EFI system on it, but when the kid bought it he didn't want to spend the money for the EFI stuff so he took the old carb. stuff off his old engine and has had problems since....
As for the PROGRESS as of today:
Pulled the valve cover and found out the timing was quite off.....checked the compression and am getting 150, 125, 130, 125.....put it all back together and after toying with a flooded carb got 'er running. Idles rough and has no power obviously...Plan on putting in a timing kit, a new cap and rotor, and gaskets this week and get her purrin' like a kitten......Let you know how things go this week..and yes pictures to come!!!

The kid that you bought that from rebuilt the carb (weber) right ?,with his dad. I offered to do it up right since I know those things inside and out, and he said" my dad knows what he doing with it". With a couple of tricks you can get that carb to be damn dependable. Oh and lower it like like 5" and put bigger tires on it. And if you don't like that weber call me I will take it off your hands, rebuild it ,rejet it for this altitude. I would be glad to help. Eric

I can't think of anything about the All-Pro springs that would piss you off, they're bad ass. I ordered everything online from All-Pro. Marlin Crawler has similar springs, and I like their spring hangers that notch into the frame, if I do another Yota, I'll use those hangers for sure.1457

Yes yes this would be sweet...and cost too much right now......

SO, some quick progress on the toy so far is this.....The person who had it before me decided to put the spark plug wires from the 3rd and 4th cylinder on opposite which is why i was having horrible idling and running problems....it dawned on me last night after looked over my book to just check the wires and sure enough...they were wrong...timing is still off but the thing purrs pretty damn good right now...more to come

Forget the EFI conversion or a 4.3

Propane is where it's at:yes:

Worked great this weekend at ProRock in the snow. And if you want to save some money, do a little research and piece it together instead of buying a kit.

Nice lookin truck, BTW.

Um acutally i am going to 39.5" TSL's once these tires either go bald or someone buys them!

Oh and if you would have read any of my posts I put up you'd know i plan on going to 30spline longs soon up front..and I doubt I'd break a rear shaft...and if I do, going to chromo's

Thanks on the comments....I lengthend the front about 1.5" and the rear about 1/2" back.......I thought about a flat bed...but am going to bob it 14" and dovetail it 6-8" on each side, as well as 6-8" dovetail up front.......

I can't believe I haven't had luck on the jeep yet....hopefully soon though....I am flat broke!!!!
