Been thinking about jumping on this board for a while and trying to meet some of you guys to do some desert runs. I am up in the reno area and doing some desert run at least once a month year around.

I live in Sacramento and come up to play in Reno and many places to the North East and South. I love getting out in the Desert to explore. There are so many different areas out there that I am constantly entertained. We end up heading out to Middlegate on Hwy 50 and homebasing there quite a bit. Have thought about doing the same out of Gerlach. I keep an RV stored in Sparks and usually "rough" it in the RV.

I built my rig for rock crawling but after a few years most of the rock trails in the sierra's lost their appeal and have become too crowded at certain times. I now prefer to get out and see something new.

I ran into one of your members at the petroglyphs near Bronco Canyon Memorial Day Weekend. I do not remember his name but think he was driving a White XJ. Had a good chat and found that the reason the canyon that the Petroglyphs is in did not look like Bronco is that It, of course, isn't Bronco. He set me straight and we had a great run. That was my third trip thru Bronco and definitely the roughest I have ever seen it.

This pic is from last year and that area of the trail is obviously completely changed now as in it looks like the freakin' Little Sluice now.

That was me with my beat up XJ at the petroglyphs...

The Nevada desert is full of interesting places to go, and from what I remember of your rig, it shouldn't have much trouble getting to most of them. Whenever you feel the urge to come over and play, just post up and I am sure you will find some locals that want to get out and hit the trails.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Travis - Thanks for your help that day! I was "leading" my group and was lost - go figure. We had a great time between snow flurries and rain showers. One minute freezing our asses off in T Shirts and the next sweating them off in full arctic gear. Very fun day. Trail was tougher than I had seen it and was lucky to make it out without any real issues as I had two control arm bushing that were "gone".

I will definitely post up when I get a free weekend over in your neck of the woods.

Here are a couple more pics from past desert runs...
