From the forest service news release ......
Due to continued hot, dry, and windy weather, fire restrictions in the Tahoe National Forest (TNF) will be increased beginning Monday, July 2, 2007.
The restrictions will affect several activities:
Off-Highway Vehicle Use ? Only permitted on designated roads; the Prosser Pit area near Truckee; and the Sugar Pine OHV area north of Foresthill. (Not permitted on trails other than the areas mentioned.)
I would say, yes it is closed, because it is not a road it is a trail and it is not in the above mentioned OHV area's.

We have god damn fires every year, and every year the Fvckin nazi's put more and more restrictions to help keep "possible" fire danger "lower"!
You can hardly camp with a fire anywhere now a days. This just blows:censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::cens or::censor::censor::censor:
Oh but they won't stop the fire work shows!!!!!
How are they going to stop the lightning storms later this week. They are probably working on getting gov. approval to send a nuke into space, change weather paterns so it will rain and snow 365 days a year.
Shove tofu and granola up your a$$!
Ok I'm done now....sorry

Yeah but after this winter (or lack of) everything is very dry out there. This year, keep an eye out for idiots. Be very careful. Bring extra water and fire suppression implements.

very very small fires...... Glad I went to fordyce a few weeks ago...and how about a novel idea...instead of closing everything down why dont they let people gather firewood and cut up dead trees that are on the ground rather than letting them sit and gather for years and years....can you say kindling for a huge fire like South Lake tahoe???? Good I knew you could.

The vast majority of wheelers are very responsible. The idea of keeping the forest safe by keeping people off of roads or trails begins to seem too much like big brother protecting us from ourselves, come on, I am all for not starting forest fires, but give me a break! You can't cut down trees in the Tahoe area that are next to your home, you can't rake up the duff next to your home, there is a policy in place to not let forest fires burn that would reduce the ladder fuels that cause serious forest fires. How long do we suffer the consiqunses of horrendous mismanagement. Every time I look at a forum something is being closed. I think it is time to get off the defensive and get a little more offensive. While we are slaving away at our keyboards to gain our small victorys, the majority of public opinion is unswayed. Lets spin donuts en mass on the white house lawn. Damn it, lets park a wheeler an Arnolds limo. We are not a small community and certainly have the ability to be heard!

On one of the trips into Deer Valley recently there were signs heading in that spelled out quite clearly "Extreme Fire Danger." What did we see, oh about 4 unmanned large fires in primitive camps with dense brush...These FVCKTARDS were no where to be seen. Personally, I've been avoiding trips to the Sierras after that. The last thing I want is to be in a geografically isolated place when a fire socks me and mine in.
Maybe someone should own the land, then it would get managed properly and retards doing unauthorized sh1t would be shot or have a bat taken to their dome. Individually, a lot of us have the capability to make appropriate decisions, but as a group we are capable of an awful lot of destruction...until crap like what I saw (and others saw) on Deer Valley (and I'm sure the bulk of the other accessible areas) ceases, a lot more gates are going to be put out in the middle of the forrest. If the main goal is preservation of natural resources, I'm all for it, regretfully to the exclusion of my entirely selfish interests in responsible recreation. I cannot control other's behavior, however I can control my own and no fires are going to be started by me, because I will be doing the responsible thing and staying the heck out of the woods to minimize that chance. Trips i do go on will have the appropriate gear standing by and when it says 'no fires', it won't ruin my weekend to take a pass.

...and before anyone mentions approaching the camps and dealing with the fires...think about doing so and the possible negative consequences to one's personal well-being ;)
