things of old are changing and wild areas shrink-- here's another. please write and express disapproval of fee-based camping in the lakes basin recreation area.

OK I have my flame suit on.

I don't actually have an issue with paying a moderate fee to camp. If collecting fees allows the place to stay open and provide a few amenities I'm ok with it.

I dont see a problem with moderate fees either. Havin lived in Cali I was used to it as all state 4wd parks have fees...they also have rangers and nice bathrooms and actually control the drunk asshats that give our sport a bad name as well as help to maintain trials so that they dont get closed due to erosion or damage...If Nevada adopts a green sticker program then I would say expect most places to start charging a fee...I think if they did something like this at moonrocks it would help to keep the place a little nicer.

I don't like the fee idea. Take the money out of welfare and put it to trails use. I pick up my own trash and leave an area cleaner then I found it. campgrounds and trails should be funded, but it should come from the budget, not from another tax.

I say we pay a small fee and they get the people on Welfare out there to work on improving the camp grounds and trails that we all us.......

i have mixed feelings and thus the post. pay-to-camp is fine for some areas, however, i fear it could lead to other unintended issues. Say the USFS wants a ranger to patrol an area, they then need $ to pay for said ranger (+ benefits) and thru camp costs and of course citations all are needed to pay for the ranger. Then say the maintenance needed is too much to handle and fees do ot cover it, so lets close that area because we cannot patrol or maintain it and its gated for ur safety. then some of the proposed areas will only get more crowded once it is promoted. Fee based usually means reservations in CA and that can have an adverse impact on some camping plans. my two cents are leave it as is-- its not broke.
