There currently is no exit from the Bronco Creek drainage around the log house at Ice Land across Gray Creek because of a washout. Apparently people are trying to exit or enter the area by crossing the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. I had a call from the UP RR police and was asked to post this information on club websites. Please do not cross the tracks. It is trespassing on private property and a safety hazard. Thanks.

Driving over RR tracks is dumb, not because you might get hit, but because you might move the rails and derail the train.

Please don't do it.

I would think that most of us could drive through the wash out anyway... I would think the people driving over the tracks are the same ones that dump their trash in the hills.

phil k and phil b, might this be slated as a work party to rehab the crossing? ideas? since the hillangels have formally adopted the HLT it makes sense to apply our maintenance skills to this area-- safety is primary-- folks coming all that way only to be rturned back or, worse, risk disaster going over the rails.

fall project?

here is a pic of the log jam-- looking east. the 'trail' passes right thru the downed logs. Fast work w/ a chainsaw and winch and we're thru. This is as of saturday 8.4.07

Which crossing is this? Is it the one down by that log cabin that crosses the creek as a bypass around the locked gate?

yes, just about 150' downstream on gray creek is the 'official' crossing. the creek bed has moved north about 20' but is only about knee deep.

lots of loose, rocky soil.
