Hi,

As some of you may know I live in Cold Springs now, and am looking for someplace nearby to go plink with the 22s, and put a few rounds through the .357 and shotgun - gotta get the wife practiced up :)

Anyone live out this way and know of a good place to go on BLM land - assuming it is legal to shoot on BLM land out here.

I would go out to the Washoe shooting facility, and will if necessary, but was hoping there was someone who could show me around the trails near cold springs and who maybe wants to go shooting also.

just drive into the desert for 5 miles and shoot. make sure you dont leave any trash. When I lived in Red Rock I would typically go to Seneca Lane (on North Virginia) and shoot on peavine.

I've been *told* that the rule is you can shoot on any BLM land unless its otherwise posted and you are 2mi from any buildings.

I live out there.

I think you can follow mud springs road to blm land and head out there. I shoot out there and there is a huge burm I shoot into.

Every now and then I hear a .50 cal......

I need to go shooting soon so maybe we can get together and go shootin.

The law is 1000 yards from populated road or hous for a pistol, and like 3-5k yards for a rifle. They actually have signs posted above spanish springs high school stating this.

And yes, please pick up as much trash/brass as you can and don't start any fires!

Excellent - let me check the schedule for the weekend, still doing some moving in and have to appease the better half, and then we can post up and pick a date and time and place to meet.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the law says 1000 FEET of an occupied dwelling not 1000 yards and you can't shoot across a road but by that it means a road regularly used by cars and trucks not an outintheboonies track.

If if was 1000 yards we wouldn't be doing much shooting out in the desert here in Fernley.... and we do a LOT of shooting. There is a lot of signs around that say "CONGESTED AREA DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS PROHIBITED". Many of those are loaded with bullet holes :P Gee!

Hey we have plenty of good shooting space out here...I know it's a drive from Reno but we have plenty of good targets...lots of appliance varmints... and it's right outside of Fernley so when you're done the bars and restaurants are right there.:) Road into the area is good too...no need to 4 wheel in.

Just a quick shot east on 80 to exit 48 and another mile or so out into the desert. We could all meet up in front ot the new Walmart in Fernley and just drive on out Newlands Dr.

Not sure if I have a spot or not yet, was planning on driving around on Saturday up here and finding one or, going where someone else can lead. I was told of a spot up here, and was gonna try to find it on Saturday. Don has a spot off of red rock he told me about also.

Just trying to get something together.

That is a really, really sad thing:(. If I don't get out at least 2-3 times a week and blast away I get pimples or dry rot or something.:maddance:

For anyone interested, Justin and I did go find a place to shoot, about 10 minutes from my house. Just around the corner there are a ton of trails that lead into BLM Land and lots of good berms to shoot into. Grounds a little hard to push targets into, but with a little coaxing we were able to work things out.

If someone wants to go shooting on a weekend and is in the cold springs area, let me know.

Not this sunday though, cause I am going to go get my CCW.

I have nothing really planned for this holiday weekend with the wife gone and all. Who wants to go shoot some clays? I have a box, of clays and a few rounds to blow. I have a killer seat model duel clay launcher:thumbsup:.

Found a couple good places to shoot on BLM land in Cold Springs, been going once or twice a week lately.

Picked up a new Beretta Neos (.22) fun little pistol and only $209 brand new at Sportsman's Wareouse for the black matte model. Accurate, eats about anything you feed it, and looks kewl too!

Took the wife out last weekend and got her working on self defense shooting (21 feet and in). Might be in trouble though, she has an ultralight Taurus snubby .38, but shot my sp101 (.357) this last time out and is already talking about how she likes it.... I may get relagated to the darn Taurus as a carry weopon (just kidding - not a bad little revolver but really light and whippy with +p loads)

Again, if someone is looking for someplace to go shoot let me know I can show you where or hopefully go with you and pull off a few rounds.
