Just got back from Sportmens Warehouse. Picked up the new Nikon Buckmaster 3-9X40 with their new BDC (Bullet Drop Compensation). They even bore sighted it for free. Paid just over A$200 for it and its clear as day. Now I need to sight it in.

My old Weaver got condensation from elk hunting in Oregon in 2 feet of snow for a week:eek: Couldnt even see the target yesterday at 150 yards over at Wixjp's house.

Did they mount it for you or did you pay for that? How did they bore sight it? Laser or colamator?

Send your old soggy scope back to Weaver and they'll probably fix it for free.

They mounted it for me for free. You have to pay first then walk back to the shop. Felt kind of strange walking around the Sportsmen with a 30.06:D Not sure what they used to bore sight it? First time I've had to deal with buying a new scope. The weaver is my dads, he wants to send it back in.

I open carried twice in a public place. Never again. Both times people stared at me like I was going to start shooting. I guess looking like I'm 18 doesn't help either

Seems to me that carrying a gun in any manner is the most natural thing in the world.:knokwood::thumbsup:

And there's a couple of real knowledgeable guys there at SW but most are just clerks...or jerks if you prefer. When I first got here in Nevada I wanted a particular gun they had there and since I didn't have my CCW yet I wanted to buy it using my FFL cuz I didn't want to pay that crappy $25 background check fee to the NHP. Well I had a merry time convincing the "clerk" I could buy any gun they sold on my FFL without a background check. He must have asked everybody in the store including the candy girl until he finally got ahold of the dept supervisor who told him "hell yes he can buy a gun using his FFL". OH!

make sure your rifle is sighted in well too. If he makes a poor shot, be ready with the follow up.
Other than that, You can't go wrong with the base model Leupold or Nikon scopes. When I deer hunt I typically use 2 - 4x fixed.

Nice !! I got the same one, but 3-9x50 and its awesome. Trashed it around quite a bit with it mounted on the quad riding to and fro the Santa Rosa's deer hunting last year and it did just fine.

Nice area, I've taken a few out of there. Just Scout your ass off before, dont think that just going there and then scouting is going to get you anything.

I wonder if it's illegal to multi-open carry with the AR and a pistol

I've debated open carrying on a few runs, but something tells me since I'm in the 'grey' area of the pistol law it wouldn't be advisable.

Grey area??? There is no grey area. A handgun can be carried openly anywhere in Nevada...not specifically prohibited...like that stupid liberal run Costco in Sparks. This means on your belt in a holster. If it is even partially concealed it is considered a concealed weapon. Make sure it is fully in the open. In your vehicle it can be anywhere. It can be on the seat, on the floor, in the glove box, under the seat, over your head, in door etc. but not on your person except if you have a CCW. Weird law but not grey.

I've seen a few guys carrying openly in McDonalds...that'd curl a bad guys toes.

My advice though is to try to avoid any LEO as they mostly don't know the law or don't care about the law...sorta like that NHP in Carson about your rigs. The penalty for arresting you illegally or improperly is nothing to them but to you it could be expensive. If they got their butts kicked good for illegal arrest they'd stop.

As a side note the police chief in Fallon nows thinks he can make his own laws and get away with threatening gun owners there. He says anybody caught carrying a gun in the open will be arrested or worse. How about that? Not only is he violating the state's preemption law he is openly threatening people with bodily harm. Hopefully the SFA can get this a******e out of there before someone gets hurt.

This jerk is from MA...the second most liberal communist state in the country.:spike:

The grey area I'm referring to is that I am under 21, and can't legally purchase a handgun from a licensed FFL dealer. I did however private party purchase a handgun with a bill of sale (legal in NV) and am over the required 18 year old mark to legally 'have' a handgun. I'm not aware of any state law prohibiting me from posessing it but you never know. The cops I've spoken with about it, do not know.

My brother was stopped in spanish springs for speeding, the officer approched his truck from the passenger side saw his hand gun in a holster between the seats, pulled his gun and had him on the ground and kuffed for 45 mins while 4 other cops arrived. They asked him why he had a hand gun what did he need to carry it for, several questions before letting him go telling him he had better not be stopped and have that gun with him again.

Like the police cheif in fallon I think it depends on the cop as to when you catch crap for open carrying.

I support being armed to the teeth.

Did he get the names and badge numbers of the OFFENSIVE cops. He can bring suit against them... if he can afford it. Is he a member of any gun rights group? Maybe the NRA or NSRPA...kind of useless right now... they might help. That's nothing but plain bull****! The cops don't make the laws. That's an illegal search and seizure and violations of the 2nd and 4th amendment. They also detained him illegally.

One thing I have noticed since moving here to Nevada is the police are out of control...the NHP especially.

I dont think he reported it, He has a couple of buddies that are cops they said it was wrong of them but would create more trouble then a little bit for him on the back side. so he let it go. We are both avid hunters him alot more then me , but we both are joining NRA soon, power in numbers.

NHP there moto " were not happy till your not happy"

I think they had a right to draw their guns and approach the vehicle, you'd be stupid not to. But if he complied and didn't have his hand near the gun, I think it was wrong to have you handcuffed on the pavement.

Unless the law has change in the last 5 years or so, that's not true. NEVADA law allows open carry, but many COUNTIES and CITIES have their own laws forbidding open carry. Washoe is one of them.

Why are there so many versions of what might be true, and if nevada is a open carry state should'nt it apply every where.

so what would happen if I walked into albertsons to get a gallon of milk with my raging bull in a holster on my side??

Causing a public disturbance is a aginst the law, and in todays world seems carying a gun dose just that.
