Hungry Valley is just north of Reno and is over 44,000 acres. Threats loom over closing and or eliminating sometrails. Others to remain open thru a route dez process. BTW, Moonrocks is inside the Hungry Valley travel plan, so if you are interested in keeping this area open for lawful recreation, please consider coming to this meeting. I am on the BOD for FOHV so all interested persons please stop by.

Presentations by Great Basin Institute and the Bureau of Land Management
Join! Volunteer! This is your opportunity to preserve a part of Nevada’s open space for generations to come while encouraging safe, responsible outdoor recreational opportunities. Help us maintain access to public land, reduce land degradation and support our efforts to safeguard the natural environment.
Our Purpose….
Friends of Hungry Valley is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, incorporated group having as its primary concern the planning, design, building and maintenance of trails and related facilities for all user groups as well as related conservation activities within the Hungry Valley/Moon Rocks region.
These activities include but are not limited to planning, designing, and constructing trails and related facilities, maintaining existing trails and related facilities, restoring or reclaiming previously built trails, providing trail related facilities, and developing and disseminating a range of educational and promotional materials to the community and to trail users.
Accomplishments:
Installation of firearm Washoe County regulation signage on entrances to Hungry Valley (Lemmon, Golden, Sun Valleys and Eagle Canyon)
Input on BLM signage content
Identification of locations for preliminary gateway, kiosks, directional and private land signage
Identification of major motorized vehicle trails (OHV, ATV, etc.) and signage placement to direct such usage away from residential areas
Finalized BLM signage and began installation
Additional Goals for 2007 and 2008:
Make a follow-up presentation to the Board of County Commissioners requesting additional informational signage regarding firearm discharge within congested areas
Install monitoring protocol at fixed and casual observation points
Identify areas for specific uses, such as shooting areas, non-motorized uses (equestrian, hiking, etc.) and motorized uses (OHV, ATV, etc.)
Organize clean-up days
Coordinate educational programs in Washoe County schools
