Yeah, my buddy's heading out there tonight and staying till Sunday. Wanted me to go but I was Turkey hunting over the weekend last weekend, so I think the wife would shoot me if I took another full weekend off and left her with the kids.

Good luck..

A friend and I went out to the south end of Washoe lake this morning. We were planning on going to Stillwater, but time constraints kept us closer to home. Man, there were a lot of hunters out there. The ducks were out right after daybreak, but disappeared fairly quickly. There weren't a whole lot of them to start with. Got one by the edge of the lake. Three geese flew overhead within range, but we both missed them. :pissed: I hope I have more opportunities to chukar hunt this year, because it's not going to be a good year for duck.:( There's just not enough water.

how'd everyone do???

i only got one mallard drake but it was my first time out for duck. i got what i came for so i'm pretty stoked :D. could've limited out yesterday and today early, but i'm not a very good shot (yet). saw a TON of ducks and geese this weekend. can't wait for geese to open next weekend. also found out my weimaraner is a better retriever than he is a pointer and waders aren't a necessity for duck hunting when you have a dog that'll fetch the decoys for you . my dog and i had a blast........and that's all that matters :D.

anyone have a good recipe for duck???

We went out to the stillwater mountains and spent about6 hrs lookin for chukar, all the springs are either sooo low that theyre stagnant with alge growing, or dry, it's so dry even the sage brush leaves crumble in your hands like dried spices...:( I keep hearing that the numbers are seriously low or non existant) so it's gonna be a tough year, another guy I work with, his buddy searched areas from Elko down to Battlemountain with no success......

Opening day, I saw a sheat load of ducks, unfortunatly, my firing pin broke so I didn't get one shot off. Then, when I was packing up the dec's and leaving some guy across the way shot one but his dog wouldn't get it, so I sent mine out to get it for him. At least my dog got some action.

My buddy spent all weekend hiking aroud Gerlach and came back with the same report for chukar. He was (1) bird. Crazy year this is gonna be for chukar.
