I just moved here from CA and made darn sure no Eco-Nazis (read Sierra clubbers) stowed away in my stuff. Apparently they are already here & working for the RGJ.
This is the second article that that I have seen about off roaders & the environment since I moved here. Both painted the off road community in a negative way.
So, what can we do?
Get the paper to run some positive articles about the off road community. I would bet that this public employee group is a front for one of the Eco-Nazi organizations’ i.e.: Sierra Club or The center for biological diversity.
We have got to start getting some “good ink” or public opinion is going to kill us.
We have got to start self policing our fellow off roaders. If someone is somewhere they shouldn’t be, tell them to get out.
The same action is needed regarding trash. I am amazed by the amount of crap I see out on the trails. I will bet that 99% of the trash is left by .5% of off roaders. I take a garbage bag on every trip & I always find somebody’s trash to bring home to my garbage can.
If we just sit on our hands none of us will be allowed anywhere.
Don't believe it? Come to CA and try to find somewhere to wheel without being ticketed or hassled. For example CA has about 1,100 miles of coastline / beach, but you can only drive on about 4 miles of it. And they want to take that away!!!!
As a newbie, I probably shouldnt be ranting like this, but the California-zation of NV has got to be stopped.
I left CA due to eco-nazis & babysitter government and dont really want to move again.

There is a comment on there about how most the people dumping are not wheels. Somebody should make a comment about if the countys would have more free dump days to help the people that cant afford to take there trash to the dump it would help keep our lands cleaner.

:maddance:"We believe it's(offroaders) the No. 1 threat to western public lands":maddance:

I thought the No. 1 threat to western public lands was nochtious weeds do to land being stripped by wildfire,or was is it "BIG" Lumber deforestation by logging for profit:eek: , or is it "MINERS" looking under the surface for minerals that can better our way of life:eek:

I guess the No. 1 threat depends on who they're pissed at, or what time of year it is!

:spike:WE'RE ALL JUST A BUNCH OF A-HOLES:spike:

i think the jounalist should take that paper and shove it up their a$$. try to work on something that means something to the community like stopping crime or theft, not us off-raoders that want to go out and have a good time with friends and family. its seriously sickning to read about it. they have nothing better to do then single us out for all their problems. freakin yuppies:maddance:

9 out of 10 causing damage?!?!

I'm not sure who they talked to in this so-called survey. I've talked to mountain bike enthusiasts who admitted that their peers tend to be less "tread lightly" than OHV users. How about the Hawkins fire? It would have burned more acreage if OHV trails were not there as a fire break.
Argh!
I'm sending a letter to the editor tomorrow. Everyone of you need to do the same.
