I went out and as soon as I stepped out of my rig, I busted a covey of 30 birds or so. I got my limit and was on my way back home in 45 minutes.
That was Friday. I go out twice a week and I have room if someone wants to tag along, especially if you want to bring your dog. As I usually run mine.

Isn't that part of the "fun" of chukar hunting? Trying to find those birds and hoping not be outsmarted by an animal that has a brain the size of a pea?

You suck;), but I am going out tomorrow as well. Me my dad and my bro are going to have our first go at it for the year. We'll see what happens. I need to find myself a secret spot. I am going to be pissed if we don't get into any birds. :maddance:

Just got back after a whole day of hunting and not a single f-ing bird! We didn't even see another living creature except for a few tiny little tweety birds and some cattle. Nothing at all. It blew. I was glad to get out but not seeing anything all day only pissed me off and now I am tired. It would have been OK if we saw some and had the chance and I blew it, but not seeing anything just bummed me out. We went out Vista and drove forever and ever off road. We had the NV map of all the guzzlers that NDOW put out and they were all empty or thrashed and empty. I hate having to drive out to Gerlach to go bird hunting but it seems that is the only place I know of that has birds and even there is hit and miss. If I wasn't so friggin broke I'd spend some time and cash down at Walker River Resort and shoot some pheasants and chukar there. :maddance:

Has anyone ever been to Walker River Resort for the bird hunting? I love it down there, my chocolate lab does too. :D I wish it wasn't so much to hunt down there though otherwise I'd be there a few times a month. Pheasant hunting is one of my favorite types of hunts. I really want to get back up to Boise and go bird hunting up there again. There were birds all over the place last time I was up there.

If it were a honey hole I would not share, but there are no birds there - so - it is Mason Valley. My family has one of the houses in that valley below, so I take the occassional trip up through the mountains there, since its in walking distance.

I am starting to think my cloths/dog have bird repelant on them or something though.... because last week I went to an old honey hole that dried up last year.
And I came across the below roost... so obviously I got excited and told my trusted buddy (Choc Lab).. now we got'm... then we proceeded to hike for about 2 miles and nothing !!
Uuuugh. They gotta be around there somewhere though. I just need more time to hunt, that's all

Nothing? That sucks! Looks like you should have been in them so thick you would have to try not to step on them.
