I went by the fair grounds and they just installed a hole new camping area. compleate with full hook ups !! in the back of the main parking lot
also on the east side of the fair grounds ( Sheckler cut off & taylor ) there is some hook ups for RVs and tent camping on the grass , under the trees .

VORRA decide not to stay on board in 09? Me and my son went this year and there was next to ZERO turnout. We had fun either way, didn't have to wait in line for the concession stand.

The Vorra management crew was very un- professional. and was not ASKED to return , they ran a unauthorized practice after building there track. nearly shutting down the whole octanefest 08 on Friday . the dust and dirt they threw-up into the air was enough to shut down the gun shooting range behind the track . and this they had to do while the city's fathers (mayor was pissed)were out shooting at the gun range . not to mention that by Sunday we were all worn-out with 5 days of racing behind us . I was out on the track doing live- course crash recovery. that was fun .
cars going by at speed, while i was out walking around the track to hook some poor guy up to tow him off the track . every-body should try this some time great for the re-flex's

I sorta got that impression from them. I talked with one of the officials and didn't get a real good feeling about the whole deal. Seemed like the staff was hodge podging around. I didn't hear about the whole Friday incident, but it isn't surprising. I saw you out on the track, me and my son were the ones putting around in my tan FJ40.

Definately looking forward to the rock crawling event this next year.

Chris

The rock-crawl is going to be my Greatest creation of rock courses yet . over the years I have built a few rock gardens, but this will be the motha of all rock gardens . 150 ft. long - with multiple elevations , drop off's - diff catchers to get hung up on , but Wait till you see the WALL that we will be sending the competitors up !! and if that is not enough, sit back and imagine,

This event depends on it. we are all amateur racers . yes it will be challenging -and maybe there will some rock-racers or pro rock crawlers there to compete. but this event is for the local Joe racer that wants to have fun and show off there rigs and there bravery and last there skill if they have any. some of the most fun guys to watch are the first timers.

oh and Phill if you want to go have some fun in that buggy . and get some seat time in it . LETS GO !!! before I tear down for the winter and get ready for top truck challenge. I will probably tear down the jeep in January.
lets get togher and do mustang canyon or ? so ......

sweet, my house is pretty much right behind the fairgrounds, maybe I throw a pig on the rotiserre and light up the bonfire (they consider past the fairgrounds 'county' and don't care much), couple weekends a year my place looks like a dang tent city, we throw a pretty decent shindig, this is looking like a prime weekend....BYOB and your welcome to come out

yea, havnt been here this long, but from what ive seen of the dirt track here its in pretty poor conditions. And some of my friends tried to help out during the council meetings and such and said nothing good about the people incharge. As for the event i dont actually know since i hadnt moved in yet, but im excited for this year. As long as you keep a water tanker to keep the track from getting to dried out you should be fine.

There will be a link to pre-register at octanefest.com once the web info is
up dated for 09. and that should be this month

If your rig is built for the rocks you may consider entering "TUFF-CUP" also.
we will be running the rock course for this event too.
