He's the announcer, he probably had in-ear monitors that block most of the ambient sound.

It's so loud at those things, I used to love monster trucks when I was little. Even in the nose bleeds, you can't hear yourself think. Geez, pay attention to your surrondings!

I've watched this a few times, I agree that he had head phones on, which block ALOT of sound. Not to mention that 2 of those suckers running and standing in between them, you can't hear one over the other.
My opinion, he either tought both trucks had passed already and walked out thinking it was clear. Or he thougth the other truck was exiting at a different location and shouldn't have been where it was (not likely as they have made no mention of it)
I will say now, what my dad always said to me, and I say to my kid everytime we are out in the parking lot or crossing the street. Look both ways. Simple and quick way to avoid something horrible like that happening.

Sad part is that they were friends. The driver and the announcer.

I know this is going to sound mean but is it just me or did that person in the crowd do a crappy job of filming that. Come on keep the camera up.
I know I'm going to hell. Save me a seat.
But I agree........ALWAYS LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE WALKING OUT ON THE MONSTER TRUCK FIELD!
(I guess I'm in one of those moods, sorry)

true but if you edit the sound out it could be a good video for kids, "look both ways""
