H2's do have wimpy tie rods. If your Idler arm is worn out, and you spin your tires like that, you can break them really easily. We had a really really badly worn out Idler arm at the 1000 last year and broke 4 tie rods in really lame obstacles. We normally beat the piss out of the H2 with stock steering, but knowing the limits and not doing things like spinning wheels will keep the steering alive.

The H3 has bigger tie rods than the H2, it is kind of sad. The GM engineer on our race program is heading the movement within GM to beef up H2 steering.
