Radioshack has a generic brand CB for like $50 or so. I've used it in the past, and it's worked well. It's very small, and has a minimum amount of features. It's perfect for up in the hills and checking up on the traffic from the truckers.

Just go to the Alamo truck stop off Gregg Street & Vista in Sparks.
They have several CB's to choose from, with a whole s-load of Antennas.

The Radio Shack worked fine for me, but when I gave it to someone else, it did not want to work all the time. 1 year too:nutkick:

I now have the 50.00 Uniden, which was 32.00 on Ebay, the Cobra Cbs they sell at the truck stop are WAY cheaper on ebay:idea:

Let me know what you decide to get. Just buy one onlne, and get much better pricing.

If you need help installing it, I am willing to give you a hand. Just power/ground, and running the coax and it is done.

The antenna they have there, the firestick, along with a mirror mount(it will not be mounted to the mirror, but the brace will work in other places on the Jeep).

Cobra has a nice compact http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005N5WW/sr=8-1/qid=1153687348/ref=sr_1_1/102-9230807-3442565?ie=UTF8

I'm thinking about getting this one for the TJ. I think there's an article on 4x4xplorer on how to install one using the fuse box.

It's small so you can unhook it and take it with you.

I have my CB mounted on the back of my tuffy center console, facing the rear seat.

Radio Shack has SWR meters, but if you drop a little more coin on a CB, many of the cobra units have built in SWR calibrators. Better to just get both in one unit.

we haven't had to good of luch with cobra 18's and 19's in our diesel trucks, I mostly get cobra 25's or the larger 29's. The 29 has the built in swr meter thats usually accurate enough to use. Definatly shop online though cause even with my discount I get at Truck Parts and Equipment in sparks a lot of the time I could get a cb a few bucks cheaper on the internet. I like the wilson antennas because they are harder to break and easy to tune also.
