Subject: Friends of Hungry Valley formation meeting
ALL
During a recent field trip with the BLM to Moon Rocks to discuss issues at Moon Rocks and in Hungry Valley, a consensus was reached that we need to create an umbrella organization with representation from all motorized recreation organizations in the region to deal with issues at Hungry Valley/Moon Rocks. The primary goals of the group will be to organize and coordinate volunteer efforts to improve the area and to seek grant funding to improve the area. We have preliminarily named this group ?Friends of Hungry Valley?, but even the name is open to suggestions. We want to invite all of you to participate, and ask you to invite any other interested parties that are not already on this mailing list. ORBA is interested in facilitating the formation of this group and provide whatever assistance we can, but our vision is for local organizations to take leadership and decide the direction and priorities of the organization.
The first meeting is scheduled for the Monday, June 20 at 7 PM. Dave Stickler of MRANN has graciously offered the use of the conference room at his business office for this formation meeting. The address is 604 West Moana Lane in Reno, and the business name is Lucini and Parish Insurance.
Please let me know if you are able to attend, as well as let me know of anyone else you know who would be interested in organizing this group. We don?t necessarily need everyone who would be interested in helping out once the organization gets going, but want to focus this meeting on folks in leadership positions with all of the local organizations who are willing to provide direction and possibly take a leadership position in the ?Friends of Hungry Valley?
