last month we noticed our home theatre system will actually play what appears to be some radio station even while the TV audio is turned up. in otherwords, turn down the volume of the TV and u can hear the radio station come thru the speakers, altho its rather faint, its still a bother. its generally KBULL, some times its another station-- but very irritating, so we just keep the TV audio volume up so the interference is not heard.

now starting just today, i can hear some radio station thru my computer speakers. this is really odd! The only common denominator for the two is they are hooked to a phone line-- the sattelite uses a dial up modem to capture programming info and the 'puter uses a different phone jack in the office for the internet connection.

called the phone comapny and they think its the home theatre's problem and i was ready to accept that, but now its also happening w/ the computer. gotta be a phone line issue??

computer experts, please offer ur ideas-- jody is going nuts from these phantom transmissions. rfi filter? something else?

oh, and no, we're not crazy-- come listen for ur self.

Mark,

Are you using AT&T DSL?

If you are do you have DSL filters on ALL phones, satellite dish, and a phone/data filter leading up to the DSL modem?

Do you have an APC BATTERY backup unit on the computer or the theater system?

How close do you live to the radio towers?

Also, this may sound crazy, but disconnect all wireless phones in the house & see if that cures the issue.

Think it is proximity to radio towers, telephone, or power line interference.

We pay SBC for thge DSL. filters are not on all phones, just the puter, my cordless office phone and the sattelite receiver. the one in the garage is not filtered.

apc battery? huh? ya got me there. i'll try disconnecting all the phones, verify filters there and see what happens...

sometimes its really strong, but mostly faint enough to be irritating.

Also.....since AT&T likes to give THOSE uber cool theories.....

Completely unplug all home theater equipment from power sources, see if it goes away, if not, then try it with all the home theater unplugged INCLUDING the phone line from the dish to the wall jack. If it still comes through then I think that can rule out AT&T's idea - completely.

Make sure the line in the garage has a filter on it as well. If not I have extra filters at the office.

try disconnecting your radio antenna if you have one connected
