I met a guy last night who said the ammo made today will only keep for about 5 years. I've never heard of any problems with ammo "expiring" if it is stored properly.
Has anyone had that problem? Has anyone heard of that problem? Is the guy full of sh!t?

people regularly shoot ammo from WW2 and Vietnam. If you store your ammo in a clean dry location, it is generally reliable forever.

I know old ammo stores for a long time. I have 8mm made in 1947 that still works fine, as well as a bunch of old Russian 7.62x54.
He said the stuff made now only lasts 5 years. I think he means they changed it so it purposely expires.

There has been some talk of making ammo manufacturers create ammo that will 'expire' in a certain amount of time. There's also been talk of serializing individual bullets and tracking all purchases. The anti-gun crowd failed with gun bans and are now looking to get rid of ammo instead. Right now its just talk.
Buy your ammo, store it properly, and it will outlive you.
