I stopped out there when the outoftowners were there, there were 6 rigs that I saw. I didn't see any of them throwing trash but I was only there for about an hour and none of them were wheeling. The place is trashed every\where. Campers of all types were there aswell.

I am one of the out of towners, not the one who trashed the place. Please dont put all of us in one bowl, I try and pack out more then I bring. I have been to moon rocks before and love the place ( needs more trees for shade for camping :D :D ) and always seems like I pick up at least a bag of trash alot of it was bye the bike hills. I would love to be there for the clean-up but next weekend is my work weekend. Let me say sorry ( from the guys I wheel with) for us cali's trashin your wheelin spot.

Gotta stay away from them lawnmowers... before you would know it I would be hooked in the adrenaline pumping sport of Lawn mower racing (http://www.letsmow.com/)
As far as a bicycle goes theres that hole coordination thing that rules that out.... I can barely keep the motorcycle going in a straight line down the road. Now you want me to pedal???
Guess ill skimp on good beer and food for a while!
Anyhooo...... back on topic.

Is there enough crap to need a trailer or will just a couple of trucks handle it?

A COUPLE OF TRUCKS WILL DO IT,AND REALLY IT IS JUST IN A FEW ISOLATED AREAS...I DONT THINK IT WILL TAKE BUT A FEW HOURS AT MOST WITH A FEW PEOPLE TO MAKE IT PRESENTABLE AGAIN.
ON A SIDE NOTE: I WANT TO THANK THE RC CRAWLER(BRPCA) ORGANIZATION.....I LOOKED BOTH OF THE AREAS THEY USED FOR PREVIOUS COMPS AND THEY WERE VERY CLEAN.....GOOD JOB!!!!!

April 22 is Earth Day-- maybe an event that sunday or the day before on saturday for an organized clean-up, wheel-fest, whatever might be a good time. Seems like a good w/e to plan a clean-up. Maybe a camp-out to stake-out some areas. Tool around, distribute some trash bags to other users, educate others and make a positive stance for that area. Of course, there should be notice to the BLM, so they can count the volunteer-hours in their record-- which is good. There is also a new ATV/4x4 group out there-- called 'friends of hungry valley' that might care to join forces for the effort. A press release can be done and a notice placed in the paper.
ideas?

Rockape, you should make a rig with a vacuum thing on the front, ala monster garage. with a sandblaster on the back for graffiti. Use an old heep of course so the whole thing would be garbage.

OR I COULD USE A FOURDOOR S-BLAZER....NO WAIT,THAT ALREADY NEEDS WORK!!!!!:gapteeth:
AND RARECJ8....I WAS JUST GONNA GO FIX THE PROBLEM ASAP....IF YOU GUYS WANNA GET THE BLM IN ON IT IM NOT AGAINST IT!!!!!MAYBE THIS WEEKEND ME AND A FEW OTHERS CAN GET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND STILL HAVE AN OFFICIAL CLEAN UP AT A LATER DATE????

as always, be sure to document efforts with before/after pix and CC the BLM-- while we may not always agree with them all the time, it never hurts to officially let them know there is some effort out there to rectify these ongoing issues. There are many in the federal system that finally give up on trying to manage an area-- too much $$, materials, etc to keep it open and clean, so the usual solution is to manage by closure, thus putting a stop to the litter and vandalism but hurts the responsible, (semi) law abiding wheeler.

I will be there Sat. We can do our best on the trash, and I will work with Washoe Wrangler to get the sandblasting operation setup again.
Who has the contact info for the BLM? I agree we need to let them know that we are again, banding together to protect the Moonrocks, so they can come out and see it. They were way stoked when we wiped out the graffiti last year.
Hopefully we can do the sandblasting during the Earth Day cleanup?
Pat, if you can arrange the equipment, I will be there to run the buisiness end of that sandblaster again!

So... recap:

Sandblaster - PRICELESS.... kicks @ss, takes names, and tea-bags all non-believers!

I just got off the phone with Fran Hull ( B.L.M.), she is faxing me there liability release form and a copy of there sign in sheet.. I'll sign the release form and get it back to her when I get to my office tomorrow.
I've got two return phone calls I'm waiting for, to secure blasting equipment (Shouldn't be a problem).
I went by our yard this morning and saw that we are low on blasting sand. I'll buy a few myself, but if you plan on showing up could everybody bring a bag with them? The cost of a bag is anywhere from $9.00 to $12.00 dollars. they can be had @ Basalite in Sparks on Greg st., or any Lowes store. The last time I checked Home Depot they didn't carry washed sand. :D
Hey Justin you know what it was like last year, better eat your WHEATIES !
