The King of the Hammers team is coming to northern Nevada, and this is your opportunity to get in on the action. KOH volunteer coordinator Shaun 'Survey Boy' Bootsma wants to hear from locals who are interested in being on the Checkpoint and Recovery Crew for the Ultra4 Stampede on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The 25 mile loop will start and end at Exit 28 near the Giants Throne. There are checkpoints that are accessible by trail ready 4x4s, and some recovery areas that will challenge even TRG rigs. Let Shaun know what you've got and what you can do! Brownie points for mobile Ham radio operators, and wheelers with recovery gear and experience, but if all you've got is a stocker and an EZ Up, you can help too! Rocksports has come a long way in the last ten years. I remember when the biggest thing ever was the 2nd SuperCrawl. I think everyone had always hoped for a day when you could see that kind of crowd at a Rocksports event. Then 2 guys and a boat load of dedicated people with the same vision built a city in the desert called Hammertown. The 2010 event will generate over 100 million impressions worldwide when it’s all said and done, with national TV coverage on the Speed network July 4th (in a very good 9:30 am time slot). Last month you could not look at a newsstand and not see KOH on the cover of the off-road market. The next generation of Rocksports is here, leaving those two guys with some big questions. What do we do for an encore? What if you could race on brand new trails wheeled only by the hand that laid the first track on them? What if the builders of those trails where the Masters of our culture, the Icons of our sports? What if there is so much more we have not even...

Straight from the "Rat Pack" ...."Jeff there are some damn hard rock crawlin trails out there you whipped our asses, but we loved it! I think it might be a little too hard for a race." Man we worked for this one, without the help of Don Gilman from ORI, Barbara Rainey, Shawn Maher and the GSR Staff, RenoSparks Convention and Visitors Authority, Virginia City and of course our new sales and marketing guy Chris Bolger, We would not have made this happen this year. Dave and I went into double overtime on this one. 2 year deal! 2010 and 2011.......... Would be nice to see the group supporting local events. Many clubs were present from the Outcast Crawlers and The Rock Gods (both local) to the Rock Zombies, Pirates Of The Rubicon and Nor Cal Night Crawlers. If you guys are interested in getting involved, we can save a spot for EZ ups and come up with a group rate. This next event is going to be huge, you will not want to miss it! Danny from Surplus City is on his way up from Oroville in the Trail Whale to do recovery for CalROCs tomorrow. Cell service is pretty spotty, but it sounds like the rear CV Joint is going out in his Land Cruiser. If anyone can help us locate one tonight we'd sure appreciate it.
