Since I have to do some heavy cutting on my little lathe to make Pivot King pivots I had to replace the main drive belt since it was 20 years old, pretty cracked and rotten and making the whole machine shake because it was way out of round. It took me two days...sheez what a job!!! :banghead: I had to take the machine half apart to get the belt off and I went to NAPA to buy a new belt and since it was not in stock they had to order it. It was stamped B33. Well I guess the Chinese B33 isn't at all like an American B33. It's was two inches shorter...duh. So I put the new belt on and of course it was way too long...can't adjust the motor down enough. So back to NAPA and they were going to order a B32 but I said no make it a B31. Got that this morning and after busting my butt to get it on and put back together it works fine. Damn... Now I can spin it up to about 3000 rpms which is good for carbide cutting a small diameter.
This dude has some. Linky

Trying to get some incite on lockers from people who have used either ARB or Detroit. What are the pro/cons of the two. And if you haven't used either keep your ****ing mouth shut.
I know that most autoparts stores take used oil but I'm wondering where I can drop off old coolant. My local place I take my oil doesn't take it. Where do you guys take the old coolant?
need some plunger pins like these: Anyone know of a local source? Already tried home depot, lowes, R&E, granger and mckillikan. http://www.fixtureworks.net/Home/TechSheet/tabid/57/Default.aspx?catID=CP-K100TLOSS&thumbPath=5%7C7%7C3%7C2
This is yet another Q&A thread for future build planning... The question is: If you take a modern, standard EFI engine and run boost, do you believe the fuel system of this standard engine could handle a small boost up to 3-5psi? Short question over, here's the explination of why I'm asking (if you don't want to read a novel, just answer the question above). So I think I want a remote turbo. If you've never heard, google STS (Squier Turbo Systems out of TX). They basically make a "universal turbo" that can go onto any car. My 3.5L is a Hyundai replica of the Mitsubishi 6G74, which me thinks makes it a suitable candidate for boost. My plan thus far: -Remote turbo kit
Hi all, Just wondering, can anyone suggest a good place to get a cheap paint job? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a mask off and spray job for my trail truck. And no, please don't suggest rattle can. Been there, done that!! :) Looking for something $700 or less. Thanks!
i am looking for a sight that specializes in older 4x4 Suburban parts. any one have any good suggestions.
Has anyone owned the cheap Summit racing seats? I think I have seen people selling them on here. The ones I was looking at are like $70 a kit, which is the seat and a cover for it and then like another $30 for mounts. Are these seats super uncomfortable? I assume they are made Ok as far as quality goes. Any info and experience with them would be great.

Sometimes my WJ doen't idle very good when it's cold outside. Usually when the motor warms up it will idle normal. I think it might be the IAC motor, but it doesn't idle bad all the time. Can anybody help me?
Has anyone here ever rebuilt a Chevy / AC Delco starter? I think the starter in the Cruiser is bad (SBC). It turns over real slow. I thought it was the battery, but I swapped it with another vehicle and the same results, other vehicle starts fine, FJ turns over real slow. I can get a rebuilt one at Kragen for $50, or a rebuild kit for $9 + shipping. I would have to wait on delivery of the kit. How hard is it and is it worth the time?
So I've got a buddy with a 1992 S-10, 4.3L V6 with EFI. It's been forever since I worked on an older motor, so I needed help. His motor idles very rough before just dying. We can feather the throttle a little to keep it running, but it won't rev and holding the throttle open kills it. We're also getting backfires through the TB as it dies, a little smoke after it shuts off. He says he used to be able to warm it up a bit at the rough idle, then it would run ok for a few hours. Right now we can't get it to run long enough to do that, as its been sitting a while. Fuel injectors are spraying a good pattern. The backfire makes me think timing related, so we've verified the order on the plug wires, cleaned the inside of the cap and rotor with sand paper. That did not help. Plugs and wires are new, he had the coil tested and coil is good. We'll be adjusting the timing tonite, but could the symptoms mean the distributor needs to be replaced? Any one with a 4.3L have...
Where is a good place to get a smog check for a Dodge cummins diesel?
So a while back, I was on HLT with AlboyXJ and a tree found its way into my driver side window. The tree kinked and pinched the track that the main window rolls into, only allowing it to roll up part way with two inches open. The other day I tried rolling it down and the regulator popped out of the window, and now it is torqued a bit from the pressure. I am looking into some parts, but dont really want to put more money into it. The metal looks like it should be able to be heated and bent back into shape, in both places. I just dont have the tools to do this. I am trying to fix it as inexpensively as possible since I lost my job. Does anyone have any experience with these things? Willing to help? Just need a quick fix.
Now that winter is rollin up again im lookin at some remote starts for my truck. I found some really good ones for a very decent price different places online but i dont know if that is a job i want to tackle. Does anybody on here know how to install a remote start or anybody that does it for a good price? Also what kind of costs am i looking at getting one installed? Thanks
I will be getting a 3.5 inch lift here pretty soon and was wondering what everyones take is on shims. I can't really afford a new driveline so i was thinking about getting some 4 degree shims? What do you guys think? Thanks! And eventually when i get the money i will get a driveline, so this will only be temporary till i can afford it!
I've heard the expression of "boiling" a gas tank or old gas can to clean it out of old rust or whatever. Just what does this mean? ( I know you don't fill it with water and put it on the stove!) Sounds like it is a chemical reaction to remove the rust, but what chemical is used and how do I do it ??? I have a couple of gas tanks and two Jerry cans that need de-rusting. Any ideas??????
I've noticed the headlights on my '06 TJ are not very bright. Switching to high beam doesn't seem to help much. Does anybody know of replacement lights (sealed beam) which are brighter or better? I think regular KC type "driving lights" of the 100w to 150w variety might be too bright for street use. Any suggestions ?????
I have posted this car up a few times. I bought it in Fernley about a year and a half ago. Trailered it home. Buffed out the paint, restriped it, new trim, restored the grill, new carpet, restored all the interior panels and seats, repaired the dash, had the factory tach restored, and alot of elbow grease. The car is now running and is almost to driver quality again after being parked for 10 years. Interior is almost complete. Anyone local want to help me wrench on the mechanicals? I am good at alot of stuff, but not the best on motors. The timing has issues, the headers are shot and need replaced, and a few other mechanical issues. I've already rebuilt the double pumper, repaired the wiring issues, new gas tank and pick up, and got it running ok. I'm hoping to be driving it in April or May. Here are a few updated pics! I want to put another battery in my TJ, re. to run my welder. It requires 24 vokts DC.. Any iders??? or know how??? ted
My passion for metalworking and auto tinkering has outgrown my backyard and 3 car garage. I dont have any room on my property to build another garage, so I've been looking around and think I could find a pretty decent shop for under 1000 a month. So if anyone wants to go in on a shop and co-sign the lease, let talk. I have a muscle car, jeep, Harley, flatbed trailer, 4 welders, full oxy/acy setup, ac compressor, Miller plasma cutter and a giant collection of hand and specialty tools. I want to be able to have a place to go and work on my projects, but honestly I work too much and probably won't get a chance to be there too often at all, but would love to have a place I can store my rigs and work on them from time to time, so If someone has a shop now and wants to rent me some space that would be great as well- let me know - private message me so it goes to my email
