  2. News GM announces Hummer sale cannot be concluded, brand to be wound down

Although it has been evident for some time that General Motors' sale of its Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co., Ltd., we didn't expect for word to come down today that the negotiations are dead and the brand will be wound down. Unfortunately, judging by a press release just issued by GM, that's exactly what will be happening. According to John Smith, GM's vice president of corporate planning and alliances, "One year ago, General Motors announced that we were going to divest Hummer, as part of focusing our efforts on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac going forward. We have since considered a number of possibilities for Hummer along the way, and we are disappointed that the deal with Tengzhong could not be completed." As we learned from the Saab sale saga, GM announcing that the brand will be wound down does not completely extinguish hope for another buyer to slip in in the 11th hour, but it does seem highly improbable that a new party will pick up...

  5. New Product Off Road Trail Tools - Tow Strap Holder

An easy and accessible recovery strap holder. One that’s easily mountable inside or outside of the vehicle. Whether it's a Jeep, F.J., Defender, Rover, or Rock buggy. Maybe you need one for your pick up. Works well with buggys, or Rhino's and or Ranger's. Desert racers, why not have a quick and fast way to yours? Here's some more ideas on where they can be mounted, tail gates, bumpers, tire carriers, roof racks). Roll bars, or interior plastic panels. One that's non- rusting, light weight, non-sparking. One that can be pad locked. You'll always have that recovery strap when you want it or need it. Simple coil the strap and insert the outside handle loop thru the door and the left side of the holder, and shut the door/ cover. Now install the stainless steel wing nut. Now install the pad lock. Your done. This will keep your strap from walking away. Can be used with either a 20' or 30' strap. Finally an easy way to access a recovery strap. Yeah!

  8. Tree Hugger Mentality Does More Harm Than Good!

They keep trying to close more OHV trails and land use in CA all the time, the tree huggers want the land left natural and wild for hiking use only. Yet they fall silent when this effort comes back to bite them right in the a$$. Here's an update recently released on the findings of why the largest wild fire in LA county history raged so out of control. http://www.fresnobee.com/state/story/1709620.html If that land had been accessible to OHV use then they would have been able to get fire equipment and personnel into it, the damage would have been significantly reduced. I think its great when an official finding and report is so in their face of blatant tree hugger ignorance.

  12. The Giants Throne

We are doing our best to have a Reno4x4 and Rock Gods wheelin day at the Throne. We are working on legal issues as well as insurance concerns. When we finally open the park to local clubs, the upper competion lines will not be open. Comp lines will not be open in all fairness to W.E. Rock and Calroc competitors. Please be patient, we really want our local people to be able to wheel at The Giants Throne. :D

  16. Forest Service and BLM launch a “stay on trails” advertising campaign

Guess they are targeting "us" with this so thought it appropriate to post this here... http://rgj.com/article/20090818/NEWS/90818047/-1/news1802 Seems kind of silly to waste money on some advertising campaign when they could have just posted to or even become a part of the message boards that cover off road use in the area for free. I mean there's living proof even here that people planning to come in and off road from out of town go to the local message boards for info first. If nothing else, maybe the BLM should just get with the times already and start their own message board on their own web site just dedicated to off road use. Use the advertising campaign money to promote the new web site and people would flock to it, and not only read the requests, but be able to raise points and ask questions. My personal feelings are the tree huggers are just getting away with being out of check on their cries and issues and you'll never make them happy as long as there is even...
