Feds Investigating Jeep Fires: Federal officials haveopened a probeinto 3 million older models of the popular Jeep Grand Cherokee sports-utility vehicle, which have received reports of fuel-tank fires following a collision. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the investigation covers 1993-2004 model-year vehicles. Records kept by the independent Center for Auto Safety show 254 people died in 172 fatal-fire crashes involving 1994 to 2008 Grand Cherokees. Glenn Bonner, former President of CalROCS, is announcing that Bonner Motorsports is now working on the new Cal-Neva Extreme series. Events will be held in Reno and Donner Ski Ranch for the 2011 season. The classes will be the same as CalROCS. If you liked this year's season you're gonna love next year too! My fire department IAFF local will be holding our annual Firefighter “Fill the Boot” event at the intersection of Plumb Ln. and Terminal Way from 8am until 3-ish pm on Monday August 30th through Wednesday September 1st. If you are in the area, please swing through the intersection and of course any donation regardless of size is very much appreciated! Please remember that the funds that are collected here locally stay locally and help to send local kids with Muscular Dystrophy to summer camp in Tahoe. I just spent a week at camp with them and there is no better cause than to make these kids feel “normal” such as they do while they are at summer camp.
