Anyone know about redoing the arch on springs, I am looking to lower my tow rig (2002 F-350) and want to know what you think. Also any places I should go, or should I just buy new ones? Thanks
It's not designed for toyotas, i think it's for a ford or Chevy, at least that's what the guy i bought it for 10 bucks said. I'm not towing a boat or a motor home, it's would be for a light trailer/ recover points.
A 2001 F250 with airbags and overload springs and about a 4 inch lift i think on 35s And my 2003 toy hauler. Look They match
I moved to Eureka NV from the Midwest using my current 2500HD with a 6.0, it's tired with 180k on it and with the jeep on the trailer and 1-2,000 lbs in the bed it would top out at 75-80 mph and get around 7.5 mpg. Needless to say it's time for a new tow rig being able to bearly do the speed limit on 50 is going to get old real quick. Does anyone have an 8.1 in their tow rig? Do you like it? What do you get for mileage towing? I'd probably be swapping an 8.1 and 4L80E into a 73-87 3/4 ton chevy. Thanks for any help.
Where is a good place to get them? I got a snowmobile trailer today, and the tires are junk. They are 18.5x8.5-8'
My attempt to explain my situation: Ok so I sold my 94 Chevy 1500 and got a sweet deal on a 97 Chevy 3500. It's got 38x15.5x16.5 Super Swamper Radials on it now. Love the tires & loved driving my new beast. Due to it getting 7mph (whoo hoo) on a good day, its sat in the backyard awhile. I checked it out the other day & noticed 1 of the tire sidewalls is cracking. So I thought, Fine - I'll get new tires (although they still have at least 40% tread). Apparently I've been in a coma for several months, as I had no idea Interco has a huge backorder on big tires. So I was thinking of my options & was looking for suggestions, advice, opinions, anything.... - Buy the same size tires, back-ordered til 8/18/10, and let my baby play in the backyard til the tires come in. Booo... - Being as 16.5 tires are expensive & not as popular as 15s,16s,etc... - try some 16s on my truck, possibly having to shave a bit of the calipers to get them to fit.
Since we are moving there shortly and my Texas tags are almost expired whats the deal with smog vehicles. What is Nevada requirements? In Texas we have no smog but have vehicle inspections for lights and horn and such. Thanks James
EDIT 6-20-09 this is turning into a build thread This is the start
I helped a friend install a BD super b turbo on his 1996 12v cummins this weekend. He is having hard start issues and blowing whitish smoke when on the throttle. I have heard you can turn up the fuel pump to increase fuel and help with the start and lean burn issues. Help!
Where can I get one of these in Reno? http://www.ssdieselsupply.com/product_6_GM_6.5_Diesel_FSD_HeatSync_kit.html
I put this together last year and it works great:yup: I would like to enclose the top and henge it. would any one be willing to trade some sheet metal work for ? I have a Dana 70 ARB, Dana 44 limited slip, new upper soft doors for a TJ, small construction JoBox, 3hp upright 60gal compressor, MONEY! the top is 48"x72"x12" i also want to switch out the suspension to independent. so will be looking for some 6 lug wheel hubs to match my jeep, air bags, 6 lug 17" wheels and 37x12.5 r17 tires.
Mechanics special but for the price, It will do nicely!!!
Thinking about getting a diesel and am leaning towards a 6.7 liter Cummins turbo diesel. I was wondering if anyone on here has one and how it has been for them. It will be primarily daily driver, tow quads/Jeep and in the future will be towing a toy hauler (bumper pull, not fifth wheel). I do not want to race it or do sled pulls. What I'm wanting to know is if any one has had problems with the DPF/EGR sysytems? Also any problems with the head gaskets? I've done a lot of research and theses seem to be common problems. Just want to see what the local guys experience has been with them. Thanks.
88 Chevy 3/4ton 4x4 tow rig
Here's the deal: The truck has decided not to start. We can charge the batteries one day and they'll be dead (or mostly dead) by morning. All of the added electric accessories have been disconnected completely (My first suspicion). My next thought is a dead battery/batteries/cell. I know there's several mechanics here, and some very knowledgeable diesel guys. So what say you guys? Questions? Ideas? Need more info? TIA.
soon to have new 32x11.5R15 mudders.....
I need a bumper pull trailer that will handle two jeeps for about a week. Anybody out there got one that would be willing to rent to me? I have a 06 1 ton ford deisel so pulling it should not be a problem
Hello everyone, it's been awhile since I have been on shame on me! So I need some help my friend is giving me a jet ski trailer that is converted almost (lol) to a flat bed utility trailer. Problem is one of the axlesis broken so I figured maybe someone has an old one laying around they want to get rid of but here are my problems: 1: I am unemployed so there are no extra funds laying around 2: I don't know what type it would use, where to measure, ect. I want to someday put 35's under it but for now could use a rolling trailer for camping and hauling crap. Any help would be appreciated sorry if that post sounded dumb but I'm kind of clueless. Thanks in advance :D
Reposting because the old thread was gone? Well started on my Jeep trailer today. I will take a few more pictures when I cut up the other one to fit it. Got side tracked on pictures. Here is what the first one looks like. Don't know where the bottom of the tubs will be cut until I cut the other one up. Should be a cool little project till my Unlimited comes in.
So I'm looking to pick up a 2000 Ford Excursion. Downside is that its stock...tire size at least. I cant drive it like that...would play with my masculinity. HAHAHAHA So what i'm asking is what would a good kit be? I have looked at both fabtech, procomp and skyjacker...fabtech has some nice stuff but its bling..both the procomp and skyjacker use rear blocks :( but I can order the springs but for some reason almost doubles the price??? I was thinking of a 33" to 35"..then of course gearing needs to be addressed...it spirals out of control so fast doesnt it. Also depends on if this is a kit I can install? Looks like it since its leaf springs or have ORI or that other place...umm damn name escapes me right now....
2009 Ford F350 4.30 gears 6spd 3v V10...Level kit and 35" on 17" exhaust intake...
This is going to be my next project I think. I don't want anything over the top right now, just a nice small trailer that I can haul gear in for camping trips. I don't plan on taking it on the Con or any really gnarly trails, I just need it so I can fit my whole family, dog and gear in my rig. I found this guy's build and I am going to copy it, since it meets all my requirements and looks dang easy. http://www.wildyoats.com/off_road_trailer_build.htm Any ideas on what to improve on his design and still keep it easy and cheap to build? How hard is it to register a custom trailer in NV? What about trailer brakes? Thanks for any input.
Ok, so I love cruise control...but a few months back it started getting temperamental on me, then a about a month after that it stopped working all together. I checked the fuses and whatnot and as far as that goes all is well. I try to engage it almost every time i get in the car hoping it will work, and never does. Then all of a sudden last weekend I was towing the company trailer and my cruise control worked perfectly! I unhook the trailer and it stops working again:censor::pissed::censor:. Now, the ONLY thing i can think of off the top of my head is that my left blinker is temperamental and rarely works. But when a trailer is attached it recognizes a functioning blinker. Could this have anything to do with it??? Or what else could be the cause of this?
So I have a trailer that I would like to set up for my camping and kayaking rig. It doesn’t look like much now, but It will once I figure out what to do. The door swings up and open on one side, with the other solid. The door is two parts that have a frame with a piano hinge running the leanth of the door on the roof. Both the front and back have drawbridge doors on them, the front one is a joke though since it cant be lowered wile hooked up and both hinges are crap and screwed in the plywood on the floor. What I need help with if figuring out is some kind of system that I can weld in so that someone could open the side door like a awning and would hold the weight that any wind would put on it. I need it so my little sister can open this thing by her self if needed. Right now its got two bars with pegs welded on the end that you put in holes drilled in the frame! Very unsafe! My future projects are to widen the rear drawbridge door so that I can ride my scooter up and take...
Since my Frontier is for sale, I am starting to look at other trucks. Looking to buy couple years old. What are the pros and cons of the above mentioned diesels? The years I am looking for are 2002-2004.
