It seems like every week lately there is a new thread on someone who is stuck and in need of help. With a little bit of planning these situations can be avoided. I recommend taking/doing the following when you are headed out to wheel. Most of these items are required if you go on an organized run like Sierra Trek or Jeeper's Jamboree, so you will already be ahead of the game. Bring- Tow Strap- A winch is great, but a strap can get you out of most situations if you have someone else to give you a pull. Tow Hooks- A strap is no good if you don't have anywhere to hook it. Don't wrap the strap around suspension or steering components, use actual tow hooks and D-rings. Hi-Lift- You can use it to change a tire, lift a corner of the vehicle to put rocks in a hole, or even drive over them if you don't have anything else to use. Be careful though, next to your winch a Hi-Lift is one of the most dangerous tools on your vehicle. Always leave the handle in the up position when the...

From here http://www.reno4x4.com/forum/showthread.php/39131-Where-to-go-shoot What: Gonna organize cleanups at some of the local North Truckee Meadows shooting areas. When: March 20, 2010 9am??? (post up if another date/time is more acceptable) How: 4x4's of course Where: Meet @ the Red Rock Shell??? (post up if another location is better) Only thing needed is a leader for each area (someone elect themselves) or we make it an all day drive from one cleanup area to another (that way everyone stays together). With 10+ people, cleanup should be quick at each area?!? I've gotta truck with a flatbed. I take metal/AL home to recycle and trash goes in the big green can.
You and you Jeep or other 4x4 are invited to Carson Dodge Jeep's spring geocashing and overnight camping trip. Participants will meet at Carson Dodge Jeep at 7:00am, Saturday April 10, 2010.;) From there you will have an exciting adventure geocashing in the local area. We will meet in Hope Valley in a dispersed campground that will be clearly marked on the north side of Highway 88, West of Pickett's Junction.:) We will then raffle off prizes and have a BBQ dinner Saturday night. This is an unimproved campground, so bring supplies accordingly if planning to spend the night.:disagree: This is weather permitting!!!! Most people wont go if there is 2 ft. of snow on the ground....lol For more info and to R.S.V.P. call Bill Baker at 775-315-315-7135. Hope to see you all there.:yup:

As you all know, camping, hunting, fishing, and four wheeling go hand in hand with each other. Most of us on here enjoy several, if not all of those hobbies. That is why we would like to get some opinions from folks (and other vendors) on Reno4x4 about a possible parking lot event this summer. We're thinking of a vendor showcase and BBQ (dutch oven also?) where folks can come out and check out the various vendor booths, while having a great lunch too. We can set up canopies with each vendor, allowing them to show customers their product's and services they offer. If you have a built up 4x4, we would like to have you bring it to the event for a show and shine also. There will be a designated portion of the parking lot setup just for off road trucks. As we get closer to settling on a date and time, i would like to get a list of people who are going to bring their trucks that way we have an idea of how many are going to show up ( and what space is needed.) If you're a...

I'm looking for people to put on seminars about camp cooking with their favorite trail recipes and perhaps even a dutch oven cooking seminar. Anybody out there interested in showing off your skills around the campfire?? Please drop me a note if you are out there! I'm thinking that these seminars can run anywhere from 45 mins to an hour each starting at 9:30 on Saturday. I also need somebody to do "quick fixes" on the trail kinda tips and tricks if there is business out there that may be interesting in lending a hand there. Thanks!
