Here Is The Fun Stuff Finally!

Here Are The 404 Axles, They Are Ready To Be Installed. We Cut Off All The Unwanted Brackets And Went Threw The Brakes To Make Shure Everything Was Ok.

Now I Think We Were Still High From Paint Fumes, But When We Slammed The Jeep, We Thought This Would Be Sick On 22's And Completely Do Able.

It Was Funny, Because With All The Things You Do To A Rock Crawler, Such As Making A Flat Under Belly, Tube Fenders, Cut Rear Fenders For Clearance, Ect. These Would All Work With Going Slammed To.

It Weird What Happens When Your Laking Sleep!

    No Leaf Springs!

We Began By Seting Up The Axles In There Exact Location We Wanted Them. The Axles Were Centered And Measured And The Vehicle Height Was Determined.

The Front Axle Was Moved Forward 6" And The Rear Back 1".
    111" Wheel Base

Every Vehicle Is Different As Far As The Suspension Goes, We Have Done 3 Jeeps On 404 Axles And I Swear There Are Huge Differences In Every One.

We Opted To Do A Triangulated 4 Link Front And Rear To Get The Best Performance We Could.

    THE TIRES ARE X
IROCS ON 20" GOUDY RACING WHEELS.
    Here ARE Some Pics.

The Portal Axles Have A Huge Amount Of Torque Leverage Applied To The Suspension. Because Of This We Mounted The Lower Control Arm Mounts Down Below The Axle Housing. Even Though We Can Hit Them, Its Better Than The Suspension Points Ripping Out Of The Car.

The Lower Links Were Made Of 2"x.250 Dom And The Uppers Were Made Of 1.5" .250 Dom.

Rubicon Express Lrg Flex Joints For All The Suspension Points. No Heims!

If You Do Your Own Fabrication Or Are Thinking Of Trying It We Have Rubicon Joints In Stock For $32.00 Ea And We Have A Full Line Of Fabrication Parts In Stock.

Heims, Bungs, Jams, Coil Spring Mounts, Spring Pads, Weld On Spring Hangers, Shock Mounts, Control Arm Mounts, And About 40 Other Misc Fab Bracket Styles In Stock.

The Front Suspension Provided Many More Problems. We Had To Clearance The Front Y Link To Clear The Headers, Motor Mounts, Oil Pan, Radiator And Engine Pully.

We Set The Jeep Down To Where It Would Sit At Full Compression And Built It From There.

With The Upper Mounts Being So Close To The Axle Centerline, The Lower Axle Mounts Had To Sit Further Down Than The Rear.

The Rear Of The Frame Had To Be Notched For Clearance Of The Shocks Travel.

Note: We Do Not Recommend Running Air Shocks Or Coilovers On Trail Rigs At All. These Were Donated To The Project And Will Later Be Removed.

Here Is The Unimog Pinion Conversions Installed. These Are Set Up For 1410 U Joints.

The Jeep Is Getting Full Hydraulic Steering, Even Though It Is Daily Driver.
We Built The Tierod From 1.5x .250.

We Sell Complete Hydro Set Ups And Can Set Them Up For A Variety Of Revolutions Depending On Your Pump Specs, Ect. On This Job We Used An 8 Turn Orbitter, 4 Turns Each Way To Keep The Steering From Being To Touchy At Freeway Speeds.

Your work is outstanding. I have been very impressed with the quality I have seen here.

Do you offer HD tie rod and drag links for a YJ?

Will you relocate a gas filler from back to side and paint?

is there any way you could include an "estimate project cost" at the end? I'd be interested to hear

DAMN that sucka is sweet!!! Very nice work! I have a very similar chickoree and have been thinking of doing an exo!! How much would you charge??? The only difference is that I have a 4 door.

If the "price is right".... you might have the honor of working on the ORIGINAL TURD TROOPER!!!!

But I would have to get a quote from main man SamBo first!!
