any time after 5:30 what repeater or frequency?
61 is no challange![]()
My nick here is my call-sign, KE7DZZ. I do a fair a mount of work on some of the local repeaters, so having a 4x4 can be rather handy.
My main rig is a '79 Jeep Cherokee with stock suspension and a mildly built-up 360.
It's loaded with Motorola radios for 6m,2m,70cm, and 33cm.
I'll post up some pics here soon.
Hey heard you guys talkin tonight![]()

busy at work, I was just curious if I had the radio set right. Then I heard Marks voice and knew I had it set right. So being new to this, how would one connect a phone patch, it might come in handy for the bodie run![]()

phone patch?
I was wondering if any hams were going, and what repeaters i should set up
phone patch is better known as auto-patch which allows a radio operator to obtain a dial tone to make calls. t he catch is 1. the repeater must be set up for that and not all are. 2. one needs need an access code and 3. the code is usually a guarded secret, mostly for clubs, RACES, ARES, etc. Making the call is not as critical as making contact w/ another station when in distress. Or u can ask another station to relay 3rd party traffic-- like, honey we're here safe, etc.
Down near Bodie there are a couple repeaters on the www.cvrc.net list but i have never tried them and do not know if they have auto-patch capabilities. Sweetwater, conway summit, etc. andthere are more near june lake.

cool thanks Mark. I found out some good news too, the Baja 540c that I put in my yota should work for the aprs as it uses the NMEA standard networkNow I just need to get a radio and antenna for that turd to put in it.

Another good repeater to try is 147.060 pl100. I can hit it just about anywhere in town and was able to talk to people from west mcarren and the 80 all the way down to the jumbo grade trail head.
I just ordered the study guides from amazon. Thanks people, this thread made me jump off the fence. I always wanted to learn ham radio. I've done military radio installs for the Navy out here on the ranges so it shouldn't be too hard to pass the test.![]()
I'd have to say 80% of the test is common sense, take the practice tests and do a random sampling http://www.qrz.com/p/testing.pl. Say there are a 100 different tests take 20 tests and if you get a 90 or better on each one then you should have no problem passing the test.
1990 sky high YJ
the next closest tests. Good luck it was pretty easy like denny said it was mostly common sense
