    Echolink for your Iphone!

That's correct. Ham radio is done as we know it. No need to buy a radio when you have your iPhone. Piss off all the club repeater owners by using your phone to connect, and rag chew all day and nite. When they kick you off the repeaters because of there ten minute rules. Just close the echolink app and QSY over to the cell network.

There was a different app in the last QST about satellite tracking. But I think that one was 25 bucks or so.

The point being that I will be using bash scripts and a serial adapter to use it as a computer, not running some app I downloaded.

that would be sick. But then again, don't they have a Telnet or Terminal app allready? I ran a packet gateway four years ago. You would telent into my BBS then there was a gateway or "door" that you could access the TNC...

It could be done. Just need to find a pin on the bottom port that goes low or even high that you can control. Use the sound like they do with the sound card Packet stuff. You might even get away with a simple switching circuit to key the radio with a 2n222 or other transistor.

ok, so I thought this was a cool app. Well it turns out this is a really rad app for the iPhone. There are now two people that drive around or use this app on our NVLLRC repeaters. They don't drop out, and sound killer. For two weeks now I thought one ham was on his computer or a radio coming thru our Minden repeater. I was surprised to find out it was a iPhone.

I have been using the app when I go out of town to get into the repeaters, and it works without a hitch. Always finds the correct route and connects without a single issue unlike the PC based version.

Really, give it a try if you have a iPhone. I back this up 100%
