A friend just picked up an alloy framed S&W Tactical .40 last night, but has yet to fire it. Beautiful gun!

I've got two, a 669 compact 9mm and a 645, full size 45 ACP. These were made quite some time ago. I've never had a malfunction from either and both have thousands of round thru them.

I've always liked their Tactical series auto pistols.

I believe you probably mean metal frame semi-automatic handguns. All of their revolvers are metal framed.

I do not own any but have shot several. The smith 911s are on par with Springfield or similar. They're not KImbers IMHO but they're a good, reliable, usable 1911. The double action handguns have the famous Smith & Wesson reliability but the trigger and fit/feel of the gun is hit or miss, depending on the model.
