    2006-PRESENT RAV4

    The Toyota RAV4 was completely redesigned for the 2006 model year, on an all-new platform. The 2-door was dropped, leaving Toyota without a mini SUV until the 2009 Toyota Urban Cruiser, which is sold only in Europe. It still has the 2AZ-FE 2.4 L four-cylinder engine, which now produces 166 hp (124 kW) @ 6,000 rpm, up five from the previous year, and 165 lb·ft @ 4,000 rpm.[4] The North American RAV4 is also fitted with the 2GR-FE 3.5 L V6 engine as an option. This engine was later introduced into the Australian market RAV4 in 2007. The new RAV4 topped Toyota SUV sales in the United States for the first time. It is also the first generation of RAV4 to be offered in regular (for Asian and European markets, dropping the spare wheel from the rear) and extended (for North American and Australian markets) versions.

    The extended-length RAV4 is larger by 21% in interior volume from the last generation and now has an available third-row seat for two small children (North America only). The RAV4 can still be had in either front-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive in the United States; however, most countries, including Canada, only sell the four-wheel-drive version.

    JDM models are X, G, and Sport. The X and G can be ordered with either front-drive or 4WD. The Sport model with over fender is 4WD only.

    In Australia, the RAV4 is sold in 4-cylinder base CV, Cruiser, and Cruiser L trim levels, and CV6, SX6, and ZR6 6-cylinder variants. The extended-length RAV4 is sold in Japan as the Toyota Vanguard.

    Currently, the RAV4 is produced in two locations in Japan: Toyota's Tahara, Aichi assembly plant, and under contract by Toyota Industries in its Nagakusa, Obu, Aichi plant. Since May 2008, all North American models are built at Toyota's Woodstock, Ontario, Canada assembly plant.

    In Malaysia, only the 2.0 automatic variant is available, in a single trim level. This model uses the 1AZ-FE 4-cylinder, in-line 16-valve engine with DOHC and VVT-i. The output for this the 2.0 L RAV4 in Malaysia is at 112 kW (150 hp) at 6,000 rpm with a torque of 194 Nm (143 lb·ft) at 4,000 rpm.

    [edit] Facelift of 2009

    The 2009 year model was freshened in some markets with several changes the most noticeable being a new 4 cylinder engine. Some of the exterior changes include redesigned headlamps, tail-lamps, front grille and bumper, and foglight trim. The Limited model gets a different front grille and bumper cover. The Sport model features a bigger spoiler and red badging along with an option on the V6 to have the rear door without the spare. New features/options include turn signal mirrors, backup camera (with monitor built into rear view mirror), satellite navigation, smart keyless entry, a push start button, a multifunction meter display, etc. With the option of run-flat tires, there is no spare tire mounted on the rear. Much of the interior remains the same.

    In North America, the 2009 RAV4 comes with an all-new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (elsewhere, the 2.4 litre engine remains), which is a low-friction design optimized for performance and fuel efficiency. It produces 179 horsepower (133 kW) at 6,000 rpm, along with 172 lb·ft. of torque at 4,000 RPM (versus 166 horsepower (124 kW) and 165 lb·ft. of peak torque of the previous 2.4-liter engine). The 2.5-liter engine employs Dual independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which controls timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts (compared to the intake-only previous 2.4-liter engine). The 269 horsepower (201 kW) 3.5-liter V6 engine continues. [5]

    The 2009 D-4D will be upgraded to 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 340 Nm. The 2009 2.0 will get valvematic and produce 152 horsepower (113 kW) and 196 Nm.

    2008-Present Highlander

    Toyota revealed the second-generation Kluger and Kluger Hybrid at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show.[2][3] The sole powertrain in the ‘08 Kluger is a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 mated to a five-speed automatic. The previous 155 horsepower (116 kW) four-cylinder model with manual transmission has been discontinued. While the 3.5-liter has 55 more horses than the previous Kluger’s optional 3.3-liter V6, the dimensional increases add a claimed 500 pounds to the new Kluger’s curb weight of about 4,000 lb. Despite the increase in power and weight, the Kluger's gas mileage is only slightly lower on front-wheel drive models at 17 mpg-US (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg-imp) city / 23 mpg-US (10 L/100 km; 28 mpg-imp) highway (last gen: 19 mpg-US (12 L/100 km; 23 mpg-imp) city / 25 mpg-US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg-imp) hwy), and similar to the predecessor on all-wheel drive models at 18 city / 24 highway.[4]

    Currently, the Highlander/Kluger is produced in Japan for global markets. Toyota planned on building the Highlander in Blue Springs, Mississippi for the North American market in the 2011 model year. [5] However, the Prius will be built there instead, and the Highlander will instead be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana in Princeton, Indiana, from the 2010 model year onward for North America, replacing Tundra production. [6] At this time, no decision has been made on Highlander Hybrid production at TMMI.

    Three trim levels are offered (Base, Sport, and Limited) and buyers will also be able to choose between front-drive or all-wheel drive. Sport and Limited models get a standard rear-view camera that does not require purchasing the optional navigation system. Major options include leather seats, heated seats, a touch-screen navigation system, an upgraded stereo, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and a towing package that increases towing capacity to 5000 pounds. The five-passenger version was dropped, replaced by the 2009 Toyota Venza.

    In Australia, the new generation Kluger was launched in August, 2007. There are three grades available, KX-R, KX-S and Grande. All grades are available with either 2WD or AWD. The base model KX-R is also available with either five or seven seats, whilst the latter grades are seven seaters only. Specifications are mostly similar to the US Highlander, sharing the same 3.5 litre V6 2GR-FE engine and five-speed automatic transmission. However, there are no plans at present to introduce a hybrid version of the Kluger into the Australian market.

    The NHTSA awarded the Highlander with five stars on side-impact crash tests.[7]

    There has been news of reviving the 4-cylinder engine to the current Highlander in order to attract buyers looking for a gas efficient crossover SUV that aren't interested in the current Hybrid version

    Related Lexus LX

    The Toyota Land Cruiser was redesigned for 2008. Known as the 200 Series, it will share the 2008 Lexus LX's platform and overall design. Though many time-honored Land Cruiser supporters have welcomed the re-invigoration of the mechanical aspects of the vehicle, the 200 Series has encountered criticism due to its controversial body restyling, with some claiming that Toyota has 'overdeveloped' the classic trademarked Land Cruiser identity in its efforts to fit the Land Cruiser in to modern 21st century motoring. Toyota presented its completely redesigned Land Cruiser in October at the 2007 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. The vehicle entered production in September and was available for sale in November 2007. Although the new Land Cruiser was presented at its first motor show in Sydney, it was already on sale in Japan, launched there in September 2007. It also became available in Venezuela for sale early in November under the local nickname of "Roraima" (Taken from Monte Roraima in Venezuela). The 200 Series is offered in three different levels of trim in Australia and Oceania:

    * GXL
    * VX
    * Sahara

    The 200 Series, offered numerous features and upgrades over its predecessor not limited to the cosmetic changes made to the body and interior, including:

    * Smart Entry - A sensor is triggered when the remote is brought near the vehicle, allowing the user to simply touch the door handle to open it.
    * Smart Start - Start/Stop push button for ignition; a key is not required.
    * 4-zone climate control on Sahara models, with outlet vents increased from 18 to 28
    * 10 airbags (VX & Sahara)
    * Stronger and lighter frame

    Various driver assist technologies not offered on previous models including:

    * CRAWL; a four-wheel drive control system that operates like an off-road cruise control, automatically maintaining a low uniform vehicle speed.
    * Downhill Assist Control
    * A newly developed ABS system, the multi-terrain anti-lock braking system (ABS)
    * Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)

    Engine and transmission improvements include:

    * An all new optional V8 Diesel engine, the 1VD-FTV (also used in the 70 Series).
    * Automatic transmission standard across all levels of trim of the 200 Series, 5-speed manual transmission is offered only with the 4.0L GX models (in selected regions). A five-speed automatic gearbox is assigned to the 4.7L petrol models, while the 4.5L diesel models receive a six-speed automatic.

    2008-Present Sequoia

    Toyota unveiled the 2008 Toyota Sequoia at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. It was designed to look more like its platform counterpart, the Tundra. The model is based on the new Tundra, which was launched in February 2007. Major differences with the Tundra include a fully-boxed frame and a rear independent suspension featuring coil springs.

    Improvements include an optional 381 horsepower 5.7 liter V8, optional power folding split third row seats, and larger dimensions in every area. The 2008 Sequoia comes in three trim lines: the SR5 and Limited, featured on the first generation, and new Platinum, which is exclusive for the Sequoia at the current time. Pricing ranges from about $35,000 to $55,000 depending upon the trim line and configuration.

    The base engine is the 4.7 liter 276 horsepower V8 featured on the previous generation, though a newer replacement may be in the works. The 4.7 liter is standard on the SR5, while the Limited and Platinum models come standard with a 5.7 liter V8 engine. Four wheel drive is available on all models.

    The interior of the 2008 Sequoia has been completely redesigned, featuring the new, somewhat controversial dash of the new Tundra. Typical options include DVD based navigation with backup camera, a DVD entertainment system, and seat warmers/coolers in the front row and warmers in the second row, available in Platinum trim. The HVAC system includes sun sensors to appropriately adjust airflow for each side of the vehicle. Exterior differences include door handle colors (color-keyed for the SR5; chrome for the Limited and Platinum), diamond-cut aluminum alloy wheels for the Platinum trim, and varying power-heated remote-controlled side mirrors. Standard features include a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power windows and doors, dual sun visors, and a keyless entry system via remote control. The Limited includes audio, climate, and hands-free Bluetooth mobile phone system controls, an improved audio system, optitron gauges, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a HomeLink transceiver. The Platinum model includes a standard DVD navigation system with a backup camera, as well as Autonomous cruise control system AKA ~ Adaptative cruise control (ACC)

    Seating arrangements are for seven or eight passengers, eight for SR5 and Limited models and seven for Platinum models. Power folding 60/40 split third row seats are available on the Platinum. The Toyota Sequoia has a towing capacity greater than any other SUV.[citation needed]

    It is the main vehicle used in the series Prison Break on season 4. Also the main car for Bones.

    In a Motor Trend comparison the Sequoia took 1st place

    2007-Present Tundra

    A larger Tundra was introduced at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. It had lifted cues of its smaller brother the Toyota Tacoma along with some cues from the Toyota FTX concept truck. The truck had many enhancements, such as a towing capacity of up to 10,000+ lb, a payload capacity of over 2,000 lb (910 kg), and a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The second generation Tundra has 3 engines available. A new 5.7 liter V8 that produces 381 horsepower (284 kW) and 401 pound-feet (544 N·m) of torque, a 4.7 liter V8 rated at 276 horsepower (206 kW) and 313 pound-feet (424 N·m) of torque, and a recently introduced 4.0 liter V6 rated at 236 horsepower (176 kW) and 266 pound-feet (361 N·m) of torque.

    When the new Tundra first came out in February 2007 it was available in 31 configurations, which consisted of 3 bed lengths, 3 cab configurations, 4 wheel-bases, and 2 transmissions The new Double Cab replaces the previous generations Access Cab, and the all new Crew Max replaces the previous generations Double Cab, it is also built to compete with the Dodge Ram Mega Cab. The Double Cab is available with a 6 and a half foot bed, regular bed, or an 8-foot (2.4 m) long bed, while the Crew Max is only available with a 5 and a half foot short bed. The Tundra also features a new 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode which is standard with the 5.7 liter, and gives it a 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 14.7 seconds. The 5.7 liter is a VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) engine, which is built to deliver power and fuel economy. The Tundra 5.7 liter 4x2's are rated to deliver an estimated 20 miles (32 km) to the gallon on the highway.

    Toyota made the new Tundra useful for many construction workers, by including extra large door handles, deck rail system, integrated tow hitch, and headrests that can fit a worker with his hard hat on. The Tundra also includes as standard: an automatic limited slip differential (Auto LSD), vehicle stability control (VSC), traction control, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA), anti-lock brakes (ABS) and tailgate assist. However, its high starting MSRP of $22,290 makes it more expensive than the Chevy Silverado Work Truck (MSRP $17,860) and the base Ford F-150 (MSRP $17,345).

    Some other changes Toyota included in the new Tundra are optional tow mirrors, a 27 US gal (102 L; 22 imp gal) fuel tank, available 22 inch alloy wheels, backup camera, Bluetooth, large center console (big enough to fit a 15 inch laptop), extra-large disc brakes, and the aforementioned 6-speed sequential automatic transmission.

    The all new Tundra is assembled in two different locations, both inside the United States; Princeton, Indiana and San Antonio, Texas. Toyota Motor Company will assemble around 150,000 Standard and Double Cabs, and only 70,000 Crew Max's in 2007.

    That is very nice. That was a lot of work and you did a great job.

    I saw a couple of small things, front disk brakes on the FJ40 were actually standard starting in March 1975. You totally missed the 70 series which was imported in Canada and can be found in the US.

    I sent you a PM on the following but I thought I'd post the following here as well. Some might find it interesting.

    Toyota Land Cruisers follow this convention, I'll use the FJ40 as an example.
    F= F series engine
    J= Body built in Japan by Araco
    40= the model series.

    BJ40 = 4 cylinder diesel

    UZJ100 = V8 UZ series engine

    There are no FJ100's or FJ200's. A straight six wouldn't get those pigs moving at highway speed unless it was going down hill with a tail wind.

    The 80 series stared with the F series engine as the FJ80 but when they changed to the FZ series engine it became the FZJ80

    In other parts of the world you can get a HZJ105 which is a 6 cylinder diesel 100 series with a solid front axle.

    The Lexus LX450 is comparable to the 80 series LC except built in various plants rather than by Araco. The LX470 has the same relation to the UZJ100. There is a similar relation between the Forerunner and some model of Lexus.
    75 FJ40 w/stuff; 98 UZJ100 kinda stock; 1984 FJ60
