    Portable GPS with topo?

I'd like to get a GPS that I can carry while hiking and biking, and hopefully also use for street/trail mapping in the jeep.

oh and I want it to be cheap

    Any suggestions?

I have Garmin Nuvi 500 (http://www.reno4x4.com/forum/showthr...armin-Nuvi-500), pretty happy with it.

It's not cheap, but the Delorme PN series does all of what you want. It comes with great topo maps (Topo USA 8.0), plus street maps for all of the US and parts of Canada and Mexico. For a $30 yearly fee, you get unlimited map downloads, which include maps such as USGS, color satellite, etc.

The weakest part of the Delorme is the street navigation. It is a portable unit, so it has a small screen. But, it is waterproof, is packed full of features that no Garmin or Magellan can touch, and is one of the fastest commercial grade gps devices around.

I bought a PN-40 about one year ago and love it. It normally goes for around $400. Cabela's has them on sale for $350 and you get a $50 mail in rebate.
