I have a Homelite 4400 watt generator. It always started and ran very good but I guess I left it sit too long and it got all gunked up. So I emptied the tank. pulled the carb, cleaned all the lines and filters and the fuel shut off valve. The carb was a mess but I got it all cleaned up and looking good. When I put it back together it was hard to get the throttle linkage hooked up and there was is a small spring wrapped around the linkage that I don't know what it hooks to on top. I think it is a helper spring for the throttle plate but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Also the linkage that was very free is now very tight. It is supposed to run at a set speed that is controlled by an arm and the linkage to the throttle plate but I can no longer move the arm. It runs but the arm doesn't control the speed any more. Anybody have any generator experience? It is an 8hp Briggs & Stratton engine with very little run time on it.
