    Help with Honda Odyssey

I picked up a FL250 Honda Odyssey for my son for his bday July 5th.
It is missing the engine .
It still has the gear box, and clutch.
It sat outside so long with fuel cap off(so fuel tank has to go) and the disc break is rusted to the brake pad.
I have a 10hp Tecumseh engine I'd like to adapt in and get him rolling for his bday.
Is there anyone that knows how and would come check it out and help a guy out?
I'm in Gardnerville FishSprings almost in Pine nuts....or 6 miles from the 395 at smiths in Gville.

I owned one for about 2 years when I was 14. Think I still have back problems from driving it. They were very poor in most aspects except the cool controls on steering wheel. I could most likely answer any questions you have. Putting the stock motor in would be best. They were underpowered with the 350 and 250 motors in them. Can't imagine a 4 stroke in it. Clutching for belt system would be waaaaaay off!

Rage. Text me unless you lost my #.
    Delux 600 sounds awesome.
I am taking the stock plastic bucket and putting in a Baja suspension seat I've had laying out in the shed for years.

It needs shocks . I am not sure how much travel the Odysseys were supposed to have, but I have two Asian quads where the only thing worth cannibalizing is the suspension.

I would like something with reverse as well as forward , but go carts never had reverse when I grew up.
    It was M A N power.

I have some corrosion work to do and repainting.
It needs another cross member and boat sides.
I might put a sheet of lexan for a windshield and box in the feet area to keep the dirt clouds out of his face(he has asthma ).
He does have a full helmet with clear shield and pop up/down sun glass.

Are you familiar with a Parker Pumper? Real ones are expensive but for a play ride for an asthmatic kid a small squirrel cage fan like a car heater pulling through a 4-6" pleated paper air filter and blowing through a shop vac hose to a fitting on the helmet would make for much more pleasant riding.

His helmet has air attachment , I believe on top.
He just needs to not get straight blasted .
The stock setup is just straight huffing dust , degree.
My '76 scout II tube crawler was same way. No lower side protection and every weed, dust, gravel, etc would fly straight in your eyes.

My neighbor with a 64 bronco crawler has lower side fiberglass guards for about from the rockets going about 6" up and it made all the difference in the world. Never had to wear goggles .

    That 600cc engine sounds great.
Does it have everything...ignition, engine, tranny, wiring, and whatever else I'd need?

I don't know what it needs.
Be nice to have someone show me , instead of tell me "hey, your engine is missing, it needs electrical, that fuel tank probably isn't good if it was full of water and you had to drain it, etc".

Ok, it's missing stuff. Now how do I get it actually running without spending a small fortune I don't have?

I don't think that's realistic, unfortunately. This is one of the projects where you'll either need to find one that's wasted in the opposite way of yours and make one good one out of two. The other way to do it 'cheap' would be to completely repower the thing with as complete a powertrain from another vehicle that is as similar as possible. Best of luck, I just don't think it will end up cheap.

Repower is what sounds like best here.
I have a 10hp Tecumseh I could adapt in or find another power train and adapt in.
If I go stock, it's gonna cost way too much.
I'm sure there's a cost effective way to make this $50 turd very fun.

From what I saw on ebay the old engine is just a pulley mounted crank.

    http://maverickmowersupply.com/27531...muYaAmHG8P8HAQ

You will need something like this, it depends on dimensions of your shaft. If the gas tank was holding water, it should be able to hold gas, just run an inline filter. I tend to use vacuum hose instead of the braided gas line for dirt bikes because it's more flexible and doesn't need hose clamps to seal. You will then need to figure out how to run a throttle, a bicycle brake or shifter cable should be able to rig it up. I imagine your 10hp motor has some sort of an exhaust, should be fine as long as it isn't pointed at the rider.

The go karts belts are not typical auto parts belts. Will probably have to be ordered somewhere. Check sizing before mounting pulley/engine.

Tractor supply has all sorts of good stuff for doing this kind of thing.
Also, I was told get the specs of the Tecumseh and find out what taper and length and diameter the shaft is, then get a CVT comet 40 series clutch.

So, scrapped that one and got two more.
One complete needs little work, the other in pieces and needs put together.
