Why are we anti tobacco and pro pot?
    I don't get it.
    Honestly.

It's like pro IPA and anti Stout, right?

I agree, and I quit cigarettes nearly 18 years ago, and pot over 30 so could not really care less about either of them. Buy why are cigs worse than pot to the powers that be?

One causes cancer, the other helps people cope with it.

Smoking 2-3 packs of 20 pot smokes a day causes cancer...

Tobacco helps people cope. Ever see a smoker go a day without a cigarette? Not very cop-y.....

    No?

Smoke 50 (2 packs) joints a day for 25 years and see what maladies arise.

We're anti tobacco because tobacco is big money (that isn't social media based) and big money is the evil white oppressor. Pot is the people, man. Power to the people, man.

Mainly it's just that people are childish, selfish, hypocritical morons with a huge sense of entitlement.

Smoking a lot of joints (pot sticks) will cause lung issues over a lifetime. There have been studies that suggest weed is worse or just as bad.

Smoking tobacco is just as much of a coping device as joints for many people. People who are smokers that go without smokes are generally on edge and won't handle stress well. Most people start to smoke to deal with stress. Some choose alcohol. Some choose pot. Some choose much harder substances. We all got crutches in some form or another.

This x2. Pot isn't evil, big tobacco putting nicotine and tar into cigarettes and killing people. That's because pot isn't mainstream. Yet. Just wait until big pot corporations become a legal thing, and add all sorts of bullshit to your miracle medical herb and kill people.

Granted, my knowledge of pot users is that they won't be smoking two packs a day or anywhere near a tobacco equivalent. I've partaken a handful of times in my life and don't really get it, but I'm libertarian so I'll be voting in favor of decriminalization.

You can smoke a pack of cigarettes and still function without driving over kids in a crosswalk. Pot is no different than any other mind altering drug. Done right, you hurt only yourself, but many people do it wrong and someone else has to pay the price. Legalize it and you get Colorado and all of their b.s. problems right here.

Is Colorado having a bunch of problems? I haven't really heard of any from there Washington or Oregon, but I haven't really looked into it.

I was born in and from Colorado.
I have talked to people still there and they say the Legal Weed is doing what the Oil Boom did.
All these oil field workers around 1998 started coming from all over the US and moving into Colorado which had an already frail economy and they started buying up and renting all the housing, which raised the housing costs but didn't help the economy other wise for the already residents and people started boarding up houses and bailing, foreclosures , etc.. Crime went up cause people were homeless and desperate .

    Unemployment soared.
Then the Oil Fields started dying down and laying off thousands and thousands of Oil Field Workers and they joined right in with that unemployment

Its a mess up there right now. Im sure things will eventually get right but for now, crime is up, car crashes involving DUI are significantly higher and the unemployment / homeless/ transient rate has boomed. Many of their cities have begun to resemble homeless camps due to the problems. You wont find it much in the lamestream media coverage because pot fits nicely into the socialist agenda. Stoners are good for big government because as long as they can still get their dope they dont care much about civil rights, freedom or taxation, since many canvote but do not work or own businesses.

Coincidently, I just drove through Oregon and out of curiosity, we went inside one of the legal pot dispensaries to see what the deal was. I was not for this law prior to this visit, but after seeing first hand what was going on, I can say that any thoughts I had that this might be a good idea were immediately erased after seeing inside one of these places.

For those that have not been inside one, which I am guessing is most (but not all) of you, they have everything you could ever want and some things you have never thought about and yes in Oregon it is completely legal. The issue for me is comparing it to somewhere like Ben's liquor. You go into Ben's to buy whiskey or whatever your heart desires, the person behind the counter can give you some advise (similar to the Pot place), but the person behind the counter is not drunk off their ass while selling it to you. The 2 pot places we went into both were full of sales people that were high as a kite. What the hell? One of 2 things will happen with this; either it is going to be cleaned up or it is going to die. It can't continue to be a bunch of stoned people selling to other pot heads and be a successful business. I suppose I am good with the taxes that this brings, but if any joe (your kid) can go into a place with a $10 bill and get high for a week based on "sound" advise from someone that is stoned, that is not something that is good for the community.

After seeing this first hand, I am dead set opposed!!!

FWIW, no I am not a pot head, yes the people I were with purchased, yes it was legal, no I would never go into another place like this ever based on this experience.

Again, based on this experience, the reality is that a bunch of pot heads are using this law as an excuse to sell to just about anyone with really no oversight whatsoever. In its current form and/or level of enforcement, this is a bad thing.

I was in a class put on by the state of Nevada last summer regarding medical marijuana and how it relates to long term care facilities. We had speakers from State healthcare oversight divisions, law enforcement and legislation. There was also federal advisers present. The consensus of opinion from them all was that this legalization vote will pass with no effort so get ready...

Unless your under 21 "kid" has an OMMP card, He/she won't get past the front desk at any of the Oregon dispensaries. You must be 21 or older to purchase recreational marijuana. I applaud you for at least going in, and check it out. It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience. I have been to several in the Grants Pass/Medford area, and they do vary a lot in professionalism, and cleanliness.
