    Two snowbound rigs on Rubicon

Hello, I have two snowbound rigs (no people are at risk) on the Rubicon, one in Miller Meadow about 3 miles in from the staging area, and another disabled rig (needs a tire change) about a half mile from Observation Point. I'm hoping to find someone willing to help recover both if possible, perhaps making a decision once we get to first rig if second one is doable.Rig at Miller Meadow is blocking the trail, stuck in water (ice) hole....my apologies to everyone. I'm new to this forum but I'll try to monitor this as best I can. Best way to reach me is by calling or sending text to my mobile 415-531-1441. Thanks, any help the club is willing to provide is greatly appreciated. Doug HiemstraSquaw Valley, CA

    Doug,

I've emailed three groups of wheelers and asked them to check in here.

My rig is not capable of the current conditions but I would be willing to help out as labor if a recovery group is formed.

Thank you Doug I appreciate your referral to Reno 4x4 and your willingness to help. First stuck rig is on 35s and it was really rough going last night plus there's probably another 12" of snow on top of what we did. Definitely need a more capable rig on 37s+ just to get there

Im available to be part of a recovery group with a tracked ATV. My cell is 805 990-1091. Can the tire on the deeper rig be remounted with ether?

No it spun completely off the rim. The first stuck rig has the (40") tire in it plus a spare. I need to jack it up and replace it if we can get to it.

I contacted FOTR about this. I assume it's already on Pirates. I'd like to go out there but my rig is down for at least a month. With the temps we are having here expect that the 1st rig could be ice bound in the water hole. Might want to take a maul to break up the ice.

Doug, Gregg Rossi is willing to take his Jeep in if we can organize rather quickly. Anyone else in the area able/willing to help?

I'm in Sparks and a good two hours out from making the trailhead, again only as labor.

If we get three rigs committed, I'd say go.

Let's see if anyone else is willing.

This was posted on Pirate but no firm commitments for today, maybe tonight or more likely tomorrow. I can't make it tomorrow.

The tire might be too heavy for a snow machine it's a 40" creepy crawler on a steel rim. Really appreciate the support here hope this works out.

Well that's good news! Glad you guys are out, that's what's important.
The rigs will be fine, but might be there till early spring if these storms keep up.
I'm in Reno, have a rig built for snow, and am down to try to get em but it'll have to be in between storms and with a few other experienced winter wheelers.

    Two snowbound rigs on Rubicon

I hate to say it but Thursday/Friday may be the soonest opportunity. I'm still willing to bring the tracked ATV in, it will get the 40" to the further rig regardless of conditions

Thank you Sicnick very much appreciated, hope you can make it. We have Scotts friend Kenny on board now in his JK on 37s. Kenny has recovery experience as well. That makes three snow capable rigs. I'm waiting to hear from a few others who clearing their respective plates to join us too.

If you can get the rigs into a wilderness area, they'll lift it out for you! Of course it might cost a bit....
