I believe 3 rigs are headed that way now, this recovery was posted on ALL IN Offroad Northern Nevada on Facebook

Unless coincidentally there are another set of two full size trucks stuck out in that area, which is possible

thank you to those ho helped my friend.
Rumor has it, the rescuer cut a tire and had a strap go through his rear hatch.
I would hope the person getting pulled has offered to pay for the damage.

And why is that. I would gladly pay some gas money and such. But if you tear up you're rig by not knowing it's capabilities or how to rig a strap why is that the responsibility of the stuck guy. If someone tore up there 4k ls motor 9k dana 60 is that said stuck persons fault?? If ya ain't up to the task of the recovery, don't do it. The next guy in line can take care of it. I have broken straps, dented my shit and destroyed parts and certainly don't expect someone else but me to pay for it. I chose to do it to help out and expect nothing in return but a thank you. I would not accept any money. I talked to Jacob and he said the guy who damaged his own shit told him that he owed him money. If I ever need a recovery and you think I am going to owe you money afterward, please don't bother.

Keep in mind this started when someone asked others for a favor.
Well the guy that broke a strap and tore a tire, would have likely been warm at home with unbroken gear if it were not for trying to help others. Nice way to ensure people don't want to be good samaritans in the future. Cost of a strap and tire is still likely way less than paying for a tow.
I think most people would turn it down, but it is good to offer.

When someone volunteers themselves to go out for a recovery it is at their own risk. The person being recoverd has ZERO liability to the recovers vechicle & equipment.
In this case the recover had used his equipment improperly that is what caused the dammag to his own vechicle.
I too have talked to the recoverd, obviously I agree with Cameron. Hand shake, a thank you, maybe some gas money or the start of a friendship is the only required payment.
I will add atempting to shake someone down for a lot of cash at the end of the recovery is totally un cool

Yes, but I believe it was demanded. I was set to head out when three were inbound. This is a volunteer unless worked out ahead of time. Also I do not believe in strong arming someone at the point of recovery for money. What I said stands. By the way there is a new facebook group with 300 members focused on recovery. No money is allowed except for gas tips and everyone is responsible for there own equipment. Anyone interested pm me.

The story i was told from the source was the tire incident happend after all vechicles where free. The owner of that vechicle thought it would be cool to spin doughnuts at the end of the trail.

Sitting on the sideline here for more info.
We cleared the area 2:30 pm and headed out, so missed the drama.

I too will & have offerd to repair or replace dammage equipment. That is the right thing to do. But like you said you where not there.
I think you missed my point.
Expexting to be compensated is one thing.
Accepting compensation is different.
Me braking your stuff is one thing.
You braking your own stuff is another.
Offering compensation for services is one thing.
Shaking someone down for it is another.

The STORY right Shawn you know how that goes. I recall some good people pulling your pile of shit up a trail when it/you had no reason being there anotherwords you would still be there. I am with Harry on this, all you d bags depend on people with good rigs to save your ass in time of need, but want it to be free then complain about it This place has gone to shit... There are some great people on here to bad they are subject to this kind of shit...

Yes, I have made mistakes. Im sure you & everyother R4x4 member here has made mistakes as well. Thoes people who have help me been generously compensated as a gesture of my appreciation, becuase that is the correct thing to do. Even though I or anyone else is not obligated to do so. (This is the main point) Many have become good friends in the process. I agree this place is not what it use to be. But all this is off subject therefore I will say good evening gentlemen, im out.

If damage occurs during a recovery, I am more than happy to pay if the damage is not due to neglect/being obviously hard on skinny pedal. OP is obviously out now, glad to hear! If any rigs were damaged during recovery, I hope he pays for damages

I feel conflicted about the whole compensation for damage to recovery rig. I've damaged my vehicles(superduty and crawler) helping people and didn't/wouldn't ask for compensation unless the stuck person damaged my shit by being stupid. Straps break with enough force to do some real damage, no ones fault. Slashing tire driving on snowy roads is likely the fault of the driver. But on the same hand if I needed that vehicle to get to work I might feel differently. Either way, I likely won't be recovering anyone on here I don't know.
