    request for help

This came in through email, so I'm just throwing this out here.

This is my cry for help so if you can, please do. It is as follows:
"I'm in real need of help. I Cannot find a truck or ATV to buy tho I've
tried while still stuck in here for a long time. Got to get supplies in.
Thinking of hiring an Off Road Vehicle club like ATV buffs who can trail
blaze in to get me a couple miles out to a friend's 4x truck to get propane
& food, etc. You seem to have good networking & might know folks I can
hire. I am right by the moon rocks where rallies are held all the time but
don't know them & cannot reach them. Let me know if you can help please.
Next window of opportunity is this Thursday or whenever after that as soon
as possible. Getting very rough. Thanks just in case..."

I live in this area. The name sounds familiar. I don't think this is a joke.
I know this winter has our area hard. I had friends come back from town only to find out they couldn't get home due to washed out roads and had to stay with us for the night. Pulled 3 recoveries the day after the big rain storm in Pal Val ON the roads.
    I'll try the contact.

My advice would be to contact the Sheriff's Office and have their Search and Rescue team respond.

Looks like a pretty good drainage area cuts across the road up there.

met up with another guy out there today, the road in is pretty deep silt and mud. Ended up getting access near the airstrip. brought her water and a propane tank, and have a plan for her to get picked up in the morning to go to town to get supplies.

Welcome. I had no intention other than scouting it till Aaron showed and said well were here. Her driveway is a mess got stuck but was able to get back out. I will take the Hummer in tomorrow to take her to a neighbors, then pick up her and the groceries and drop them back off in the afternoon. I'm sure I could get through the driveway with the Hummer but there's nothing to hook to if I get stuck. If I had back up I would try it but it's easy enough to go around andcleaner as well.
There's 30 feet of road missing going to the Glider Park the entire basin on that side of Palomino has a lot of water in it. Water is draining across Grass Valley Rd in several spots, a fair amount of shoulder erosion on Winemucca Ranch Rd etc. I live on the across Pyramid on a foot hill. I am thankfully high and dry and our roads aren't as bad. I see some major issues ahead of us all this spring if we receive more rain and snow.

Maybe with good tires. My S10 with new 33" ATs made it ok. Couple of spots are sticky and you don't want to pull around front just jump the fence in the side yard. I'm thinking the Hummer will float better than the S10 and the weight balance of an SUV vs pickup might be better.
After tomorrow hopefully she will be supplied for a few weeks. She is also looking at a buying a Jeep Cherokee as well so hopefully she will be self sufficient.
