    Brake fluid disposal

I have about a gallon of brake fluid to disposal of. O Reilly's in Damonte Ranch said they only do oil. Anyone know where I can dispose of this without pouring it into an oil drain pan and making them think it's oil?

I thought all the FLAPS oil tanks could take anything oil based like ATF, gear oil, brake fluid, engine oil, blah blah. I've been combining all these fluids into one jug to pour in their tank a few times a year. Hopefully that's still the case and I'm not a huge jackass.
    Cheers!

Same here. Only thing I try and keep out of my "oil" jug is coolant.

Brake fluid is not oil based.

Costco kitty litter is a cost effective solution to making wet waste into dry waste for the purpose of normal disposal.

I didn't think about a brake shop honestly. I don't know if they'd take my brake fluid since they probably have to pay a hazardous waste disposal fee. Maybe I'll look into it but I might go the "kitty litter plus trash can" way.

I haven't checked into it personally, but I've read Big O Tire Centers accept brake fluid. Don't know about fees. Anybody else confirm this? I have almost a gallon of this stuff hangin' around I'd like to get rid of…

I can bring it to Carson City if you want it. I work by the NDOT and DMV Buildings.

Does Friday this week work for you? I'm picking up a trencher in Carson City so I can bring it then. Otherwise I'll probably add some dirt to it this weekend and trash it.
