    Clutch for a 97 YJ

Whats the best clutch for my YJ I smoked my clutch on the Rubicon this year. Is Center force worth the extra cash and whats the best throw out bearing?

    Clutch for a 97 YJ

I've always stuck with Luk (OEM) standard replacement clutch kit. Napa sells them, cheapest I've come across and also one of the best/longest lasting. I got 140,000 miles out of my last clutch and it still was in decent shape when I pulled it. Make sure to swap the pilot bearing as well when you do the clutch. The kit includes everything you need, including an alignment tool.

Side note, are you sure it's a 97 YJ? Thought they quit production of the YJ in 95. I know they had started TJ production in 97, a buddy had a 97 TJ. Either way, the answer is the same, Luk clutch is the best for both IMHO.

It looks like the Luk clutch TB has been downgraded since I replaced my clutch. In the reviews on the summit link, I believe the original Omix Ada TB part is referenced. When I did my clutch a few years back it came with National brand TB and Pilot bearing.

I'd also go with the standard Luk. Jeeps don't need the "performance" clutches. Did a Luk for my TJ almost a year ago and used everything in the kit but the TOB. I used a national cast TOB

Luk is a good kit for the money. I have used Centerforce before and don't see the cost being worth it.
