    Converting to 4x4

    Hi All,

I'm new to the board and to 4x4 in general. This may be an obvious answer for the more experienced members, also if there is a better place for the question please let me know.

I currently have a RWD 2003 Ford E-350 van that I would like to see about converting to 4x4. Most of the companies I've found that advertise this service aren't very close to Reno. I've found UJoint Offroad that offers a kit, but I don't have the talents to make use of it myself.

Does anyone know of any shops in the greater Reno area that would do this kind of work?

Thanks in advance. Cool to see such a thriving local community.

There are places in Reno, like Dr Smash or Nate's Precision, that could do the conversion for you. If would probably even be cost effective to use part from U-Joint and have one of these shops install them for you rather than start from scratch.

If you are looking for a place that specifically does van conversions, the closest one I know of is Whitefeather. They are only a couple hours away in Red Bluff. https://whitefeather4x4conversions.com/

Unless you are very attached to your van, it might be more cost effective to find another one that's already 4x4.

I would agree with you Denis if we were talking about a Cherokee or a pickup, but 4x4 vans weren't offered from the factory and are pretty rare.

    Thanks for the responses.

Anybody know how to contact Dr. Smash? Most of the phone numbers and web sites I seem to be finding are disconnected...
