    Duck Boat

Apologies if anyone lost someone in this latest tragedy.

With that said, am I the only one that thinks we are all a little responsible for our own safety when we board a 70 year old truck/ boat and a storm comes up? I know I'm a safety Nazi but there shouldn't be a boat full of dead people and empty life jackets still tied to the boat.

The "news" coverage is pretty one sided, even on the " fair and balanced " channel.

    Not the only one...

    Tragedy none the less...sad.

Another tragedy related to this is that people do these things and just don't know.

Speaking strictly from a person who possess a 300 gross tone captains license. I can assure you it's not the passengers fault even if they did not have the common sense not to embark. It's 100% the captains fault... period. Just like a aircraft pilot, a maritime captains is responsible from him/her self, crew, passengers & cargo. The captain is trained to assume that all persons on board have the intelligence of a slugworm. That's exactly the reason why USCG requires a captain abroad a any vessel that is for hire. The captain used terribly poor judgement, he should have known better.
