    Tom Gehres- new member

Hi, my name is Tom Gehres and I just joined this forum, I live in Calif. but I'm searching the Reno area as well to find the right person or place to build my "Rig"
My Rig is a 1943 Ford GPW military Jeep that is in need of restoration and that is my reason for joining this forum (to find someone to make this Jeep better than it was before) and I look forward to all recommendations.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
What do you want done to it and what is your budget? What kind of condition is it in now? What is your definition of "better.

My definition of better is improved from stock set up. Dana 44s instead of 25s, V-6 instead of flat head four, T-98 with Dana 18 trans case with 1 1/4 intermediate shaft and over drive, new body tub, hood and possibly fenders. PS, PB, and a hydraulic clutch set up.
I have or will have most of those parts, what I need is it all installed.
Right now the Tub is sitting on the rolling frame with all the rest of it thrown inside the tub.
My budget is around $25K- $30K

There are a lot of shops around town. You just have to get the list, then go in person and ask a lot of questions. If the shop doesn't seem interested in doing the work, move on. Many shops nowadays are just not interested in custom work. They want to build JK's and Tacoma's because they are money makers and the parts are plug and play.

They are also going to want you to do an LS swap with a 4L60E because the combos are sorted out now and easy. It's a lot of work to source a carbureted V6 and get it right.
