    Intro

    Hi everyone,

I just recently joined so I'm new to the group. My name is Scott. I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler that blew a head gasket and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. It has several after market add-ons and I don't want to just scrap it if I can help it. Not sure what to do and was hoping I could get some recommendations or ideas. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Welcome Scott, I'd advise calling a couple local shops and see what it would cost to get it repaired. Shouldn't be that bad. I'm sure someone will recommend a good shop. Good Luck.

Welcome, a head gasket is not that bad to fix just takes some time.

Any other damage besides the blown gasket?

Good to know, thanks! One place I first took it to told me it would be at least $2500 to fix. Maybe I'll check around some more.

Not as far as I know. It's got a lot of miles on it and I've had a lot of other work done to it in the last year, so I think that is the only thing at this point. I took it to one place when right after and they told me it might be better to replace the engine instead of replacing the head gasket and that it would be around 6k.

Reman block is about $1600 + core. Everything else will come off the old one.
