I bought a cactus. A week later it died. And I got depressed, because I thought, Damn. I am less nurturing than a desert. - Demetri Martin

Inc there is also another possibility for you as well. There is a scuba shop down here in Carson behind Carls Jr. and I believe they offer classes and certifications as well. Let me know and I can get the number for you as I am always willing to help anybody out. Andrew

I got my advanced cert. Went through tropical penguin. I went through the process years ago but he had the best prices for classes.

I got certified through them, but wouldn't ever go back there. I had to go down there and hassle them every day for several weeks to get them to finish all my stuff, and I never received everything I paid for. I've heard various things about the owner's ethics.

Sierra Dive shop seems pretty legit and the University subs the class out to them. Going through UNR was actually the cheapest way to do it here recently, and you get your advanced certification while you're at it.

I received my advanced open water w/dry suit through Adventure Scuba. Seems to be run by nice folks.

I used to SCUBA dive, but that was about fourty years ago ! I always found hauling all that gear was such a hastle and snorkel diving worked just as well for me.

That's the boat I'm in. I got cert'd a few years ago, and never bought any hardware, and therefore haven't been diving since. I'd love to start going, but can't justify it here. There's.....Tahoe and maybe pyramid. If I was going to start diving, I'd want to live by the ocean

I hear ya. A buddy and I get certified in San Diego back in '83. We dove off the coast but always wanted to dive Tahoe. Now that I have ... "been there done that." It's good for bottom time and staying current but nothing much to see. I guess you could dive the F4 in the sink hole.

I'm going to look into getting my cert. through UNR and then I'd love to go dive with everyone. I'd eventually like to get into underwater photography as well.
