    Thoughts on ammo prices

    .308=crazy high
    7.62x54R=crazy low

    5.56=crazy hihg
    5.45x39=crazy low

    a case of ammo for popular calibers costs 50% of the caost of the base firearm.......
    9mm=$300 a case and so on.

    why don't we start using rifles that consume cheaper ammo?

    AK74
    AR in 5.45
    Dragonov clones

    WHY IS THERE NO MODERN BOLT RIFLE CHAMBER 7.62X54R?!?!?!??!?! LIKE A NICE CZ...... sorry about the caps.

    $221 shipped to your door for 7.62x54R

    I dont know about you, but i do use those rifles.
    I even sold my last AR15 this weekend. I did keep my Daewoo Piston AR just because.

    Right now, ammo for AK47/74's about about 1/2 the cost of 223/556.
    My long range rifles are 54R.

    I think other people saw this coming too as that is one reason why we have seen AK prices jump up to equal and/or exceed AR prices. Ammo is still there. The US is predominately limited by our production of it. Its pretty easy to call the Ukraine and tell them to ship a boat load more over of the NATO rounds.

    Here is my next prediction...........
    Israel and Iran will get in to a MUCH bigger conflict over Iran's nuke program.
    Israel will start sucking up all 223/556, 9mm, and 45.
    Iran will start sucking up all 7.62x39 and 54R.

    I wouldnt expect to see a relax in ammo prices for a while.

    Interesting.
    I think war is a lose lose......

    Do you think Israel will use their nukes? Do they have any?
    Do you think Iran would if they had any?

    thoughts on N. Korea?

    So, buy what you can find? and in bulk?

    Possibly, although perhaps manufacturers will ramp up production capacity to meet current demand, then prices will eventually fall because supply is higher than demand.

    If countries start nuking each other we wont have to worry about ammo prices, or much of anything else for that matter..

    On the prices, they are crazy but people are paying. I was in Sportsmans yesterday and a guy asked if I thought the prices and empty shelves were crazy. We started talking and he said Mark Fore + Strike had quite a bit of .223, and that he picked up 7 boxes of 20. I asked how much and he said $20 a box and asked me if that was a good price for it, at $1 a round..

    I SUSPECT $1 a round for 223 will be a good price about a year from now.

    Have serious doubts the ammo market will recover in 2013, maybe even 2014. We are now 2 months in since the panic started and ammo prices are still getting worse with no end in sight.

    I dont think they will nuke each other. But, i would guess Israel will bomb the SHIT out of their facilities and then a big small arms war will break out. Isreal is FAR ahead in technology and will make quick work of their "tech".

    I think Josh's estimate is probably pretty correct.

    What I don't understand, is why .22lr is so damn hard to get. The same thing happened in 2008.

    22 will catch up in production. People are just buying everything right now. It will relax in about 1-2 months.

    I think 1-2 months is an underestimate. The ammo issue has been straight ridiculous lately and I'm guessing it'll be 4-6 months before you can actually go to a store and find every caliber you want.

    Here is some promising news out of the Capstone Washington Report:

    WE’LL GIVE YOU VISAS, WE’LL KEEP OUR ASSAULT WEAPONS. NJ writes, “Republicans know that tinkering with the Second Amendment is a high-risk, low-reward endeavor that has minimal support among their constituents and could easily result in a primary challenge from the right. And so, House conservatives are crafting a message that will allow them to get behind an immigration overhaul but block efforts to further regulate guns.”

    Sorry, i meant 1-2 months for 22 LR. I think it will be MUCH longer for the other calibers.

    I'm in snoz's camp... Out of all my semi auto rifles, one is in 5.56x45. Everything else is a commie caliber. The thing that raises my hackles is even though milsurp 5.45x39 is still the cheapest centerfire rifle round you can buy right now, it has INCREASED DRAMATICALLY in the past year. Last crate of 2160 rounds I bought was 350 shipped last November before the Muslim was elected. Now the minimum price online with shipping is 430 bucks. It just pisses me off.... Got a Krink inbound and it's gonna want some vittles! Lol!!

    I can't even find AK ammo! Well there was one place at .50 a round. Fawk that.

    At the show, you could get it for under 30 cents a round. Cabelas usually has stock at 6.50 a box of 20. I havent ever seen them out of 7.62x39.

    Last time I was at Cabelas they were out. That was two weeks ago though... Anybody know when they get their ammo in?
