Dirt bike ridding areas northern Nevada?

So my wife and 2 sons who started to ride at the beginning of this summer, have gotten borad with ridding in Cold Springs valley area.

My wife who rides a Honda CR80R with a big bore kit. She enjoys small jumps, fast bank turns and the like. Wants to advance her ridding skills. Does not care for deep sand.

My 9 year old son who rides a Yamaha TTR110 seems to be more into trail ridding. Trails with rolling hills a few small hill climbs and he rides normally in 3rd gear (bike is a 4 speed) he also hates ridding in deep sand

My 4 year old rides a Yamaha PW50 with training wheels. He simply likes to ride fast. I am still teaching him ridding techniques of different terrains but seems not to rememberer when he needs to. The training wheels limmit him to non sandy flat land becuase the training wheels lift the rear wheel off the ground.

My question is, where is a good place to ride that has areas or multiple trails that they all could enjoy? Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Lots of cool areas out past Cold Springs and Red Rock Road. I ride a 4x4 Yamaha Grizzly though and do mostly trail riding and exploring.

This has been the training area. From my house at the end of Village Park way almost all the way to Red Rock and from the south ridge to the north ridge. I have however not yet ran the north ridge past the spring to Hejullua Junction.

Look up steve's loop trail. There are a ton of spur off roads that are generally pretty good sold dirt and not real rocky. If you take the east fork to go up steves loop I think it can be done on a dirtbike (to the wind caves anyways) and theres a good view at the top where you can see pryamid lake

close to you. south side of 395 peavine trails galore, dog valley and everywhere in between. Stage out Red rock summit or bordertown, lots to see.

Long valley rd has lots of cars hauling ass. No go for little kids on dirt bikes. Maybe if you go to top by little meadow and turn in right you can find some nice smoother untraveled roads for kids. One dead ends at an old unused camp gound with a spring

Basically go to the top past normal camp ground. Then you get to a small vally with a meadow on left. Right around there a forest road goes to right. Follow for about mile or two then take another right. When you get to end you can see remnants of an old campground in the trees with a 1 foot wide stream spring coming down. I will look at google earth and backcountry to tie together and get you a fs number.

Your two best bets would be dog valley go up and hang a left at the cattle guard just past the ranch. two track roads, single track and wide open camp spots down by the creek on the left for the little fella.

Your next option for your variety of skill set would be head north on 395 take a left on hwy 70 and go up to Beckworth pass. At the summit there is a pull out you cant miss right before chilicoot. Has everything you would need. That's where I grew up riding.

As for Cold Springs that's one of my go to spots for single track riding. Endless miles of it and id be willing to bet you haven't scratched the surface out there yet as it seems everytime I go out there I find a new trail. Let me know if you want to go for a ride sometime I would be happy to show ya some trails out there.

Miles of single track that's good for small wheels out by Moon rocks. Or on out past the shooting range to Sky Ranch, Steves loop for the newbies. Whats left of the motocross track and TT track, as well as miles of trails. A bit farther away is Forest Hill OHV. Haven't been there in many years, but was a great place for family riding.

    Also a good list: http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/t...evada_list.htm
Its just a road with a few rocks, keep driving!

If your a ccw holder or a gun carrier offroad, be very aware of state lines.
