    Front driveshaft hits exhaust

I just bought a 1989 Cherokee Laredo with a 4.5” lift the previous owner installed himself. I noticed the front driveshaft clearances the exhaust where it crosses over to the passenger side. Quite nicely I might add. Since this is my first XJ and off road vehicle I wondering if anyone’s has come across this previously and has suggestions of what could cause it. I’d expect the lift to move the axle and driveshaft farther away from the engine, not closer. Also, would the pinched elbow shaped bend cause problems with the engine?

No, I haven’t gotten under there while the vehicle is flexed to see if it still contacts it. The transmission says it’s out of fluid and I just got the moving permit so I want to address the transmission first.

All cherokees have a 'pinch' in the exhaust where it crosses over, its there from the factory. Are you sure that isn't what you are seeing? Its it scraped/scuffed like its being caused by impact?

Definately from a driveshaft hitting it. There are directional scratches. If I can get a photo posted I will.
