    One more New Guy

    Hi Everyone -
My wife and I are now retired and we recently moved here for a lot of reasons, including our love of the mountains, lakes and deserts all around. And I finally got my third Jeep Wrangler, this time an 18 Rubicon 2 door. I am thinking about getting a 2" lift and some 35" tires in the near future. If anyone has some recommendations, I would love to hear from you. I am also in search of some good off road trails nearby to explore. It turns out that I discovered this forum by accident while I was doing an online search for off road trails. So again, if you can point me in the right direction to find some trails that would be great.

    Hey Dennis,

When I go to that website, I get the heading but the rest of the page is blank. I tried it with two browsers, but no luck. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Try again. Google changed their embedded maps link format, so I had to update it.

    Welcome to Reno4x4.

Hunter Lake Trail, or HLT, (Hunter Lake Road - Pinehaven Road Trailhead pin on the map Dennis linked to) is a great trail for a stock or slightly modified Jeep. It has lots of optional areas that you can try, but still go around if they are too much. It goes through to the Hunter Lake - Garson Road Trailhead pin if you go all the way through. It gets MUCH harder when the snow starts to fall. There are also a lot of poorly maintained dirt roads/trails around Peavine. You can go in from the North Valleys on Peavine Rd or Kiowa Way, or Budweiser Canyon or Somersett area out west Reno. The back side of Peavine connects with trails that go all over. Dog Valley road is another one, it is pretty mild, but has nice scenery and connects with all kinds of others.
