    Kinda quiet here

Well...? Deals or will fake laws drive transfers underground?

People will want to meet in parking lots to avoid the fee, buyers will expect used prices to come down to reflect the cost of background checks (it hasn't) and people will just buy new unless they really want to save that $50 to get a used gun after having to organize a time and place to meet. Oh and I think CCW holders are exempt from background checks at gun shops for new guns still. I have no proof. It's just a thought I had since I haven't heard anything contrary to it.

CCW is still exempt for new or direct from dealer purchases, as that was always governed by Federal law. Private sales under new state law provide no exemption for CCW.

If two private buyers have FFL do the transfer is required to run the guns serial number?

They don’t “run” it as part of the background check, but the FFL has to record all of the weapon info into his bound book as if he was taking the gun into his inventory.

Which apparently doesn’t make some of them happy because it’s not only a lot of work compared to what the elected officials thought, but also treats the gun as though the shop sold it so they have it on their books but never handled anything other than the transfer. Stupid laws are stupid. If only the local law enforcement would do background checks for concerned citizens for free.

Some may have a gun for many years, taken in as trade or ? And origin in not certain. Could be a chilling effect on going to a FFL and instead opt for old school FTF sale like it has always been. Asking for a friend...

There used to be a provision for private persons to ask DPS to run checks. Had to be done in writing, never knew of anyone who took advantage.

Asking LE to handle something like this amounts to registration, either defacto by accident or on purpose like Vegas’ old handgun registration system.

I never knew about the private citizen thing. I guess it was about as popular as I'd expect. It was a bullshit move and Armslist seems to still have the same guys asking too much for their used guns on top of now requiring a background check. I think this did what I expected it to do. Killed the used gun market because the background check is an added cost and the seller isn't going to pay for it because to them they want to sell the gun and the buyer should pay for it. You know, because they'd pay for it if they buy a new one.

Its been kinda quiet here for years. New bullshit laws likely arent helping. Armslist has started to slow down a ton too and as mentioned is mostly the same shit that has been posted for 6 months or a year at the same high price.

Everybody seems to think everything is made of gold these days. I've been buying new for the last year or two. Hardly any good deals to be found on the secondary market anymore.

Not at the moment. Picked up a new CZ a month or two back. Been working on guns I already have since then, nagging projects, repairs, modifications.

I normally just cruise for cool deals. My next pick up will probably be a Hand Ejector or Police Positive in .32-20 since I just repaired my old Remington Model 25 in .32-20. It would be cool to have a companion revolver.
